Active Mom... Tired Me...

Yes, Mom was so active... she was able to remove the padded restraints THREE TIMES... And walked to the dining room table in the middle of the night... go to the bathroom (she removed the diaper and got them back on)... I didn't go to bed until 1am, but she was up two more times before her shower at 7:30. I couldn't believe it.

After she took off, I went and fell asleep on the sofa for an hour.

Then it was time to clean... And Amy came this afternoon to finish the job. I sorted through Abby's room, putting things away. Folded the clothes that were hanging on the line.

At 11am, I went to World Gym and ran on the treadmill for an hour! It was boring, but at least it wasn't stifling hot. I was able to run a few errands before coming back home.

Alan had tried to call. So, we had our prayer time! YIPPY! He went to the airport to meet up with Abby. And yes, she has arrived safely!

I worked on message prep for this Sunday and my translator will help me put the Chinese verses into the ppt. THANK YOU JESUS! Usually Abby does it for me...

Mom was home... and I had dinner ready.

After she went to bed, I went and met up with a friend who will be going back to the States next week. I was hoping to go for a weights workout, but no time!

The house is so nice and clean! What a praise!

And Abby arrived safely in London and Alan was there to meet up with her!

SAD, SAD, SAD...

Words cannot express my heart...

I took Abby to the airport... and held back the tears until later in the evening... If I had started, the whole airport would have been very alarmed.

It was easier to drop Alan off... But dropping Abby off was another thing...

I guess there are many facets... To think that the three of them would be together for 14 days and I have to be home with Mom... That just kills me... I want to be with them... I want to travel around and make memories together, especially before Abby goes to DTS. We had planned to do a special trip last summer, and then thought we'd do it this summer. But with the care of my mom and things not working out at the long term facility, we had to throw those plans out the windows. Anyhow, I can write so much more on this, but I won't.

The only thing that helped was the thought that I would see Isaiah and Abby in late August and we'd be traveling around, but without Alan! I will have a bit more time with Abby... and that comforts my heart!

I heard from DTS that there will be 20 students this year, representing 8 countries: Taiwan, New Zealand, Spain, Austria, Canada, USA, Dominican Republic, and lots of Germans. They don't know where the outreach will take place but I know it's going to be amazing.

To back track, this morning, after sending Mom off, I was rushing to get to my new job. I got there almost right on time, which was a miracle, since everyone knows how slow I ride. I had my first lunch time class and it was so much fun. A total of 16 students have signed up... and 12 showed up. The hour flew by and I was back on my scooter. I got home just a little after 2pm and Abby and I were off to the airport! The traffic was not bad and we found parking quite easily.

I'm glad I had done online check-in as that line was so much shorter. A bunch of Abby's friends came to the airport to see her off! How splendid! Everything weighed perfectly. In fact, the check in was under by 10kg. But her carry on was a bit over!

I had to rush home for Mom. The center forgot that I was to pick Mom up and the driver was at our complex. Our guard took care of Mom for 15 minutes before I got home.

This evening after Mom went to bed, I went for a run. I wanted to go to World Gym... but maybe tomorrow morning.

The Days Fly By...

It's already the end of June... And tomorrow, Abby will be taking off... She has not been very good about getting things done... I did most of her packing... but today she had to go to school to see about getting her diploma and 'signing out' as a student. Well, it turned out that she did not complete an online survey... and one teacher did not turn in the grades. Plus, she went 15 minutes before lunch time and these people take lunch time very seriously. So, she was not happy and will have to go again tomorrow.

I was busy all morning trying to sort through the things that I could not decide for her... her make up, etc. And how are we going to pack these 'last few' items? I put those words in quote because with Abby, it's never a few items...

We met up for lunch and then went to get her hair done. I thought I'd be done really quickly and can go run errands. They were so slow. We finished at the same time and she had her hair dyed!

I rushed to Costco while she met up with a friend. Then I rushed home because Mom was due to be back. YIKES! I strongly dislike rushing around!

This evening, after Mom went to bed, I met up with Abby to transfer her world gym membership. Then she went to the movies! When she got back, we had so much to do: online check in, her make up bags and hair ties and jewelry items... the list goes on!

I'm so glad I cancelled my morning Bible study, my tutoring, and my evening study for today! I have to work tomorrow morning and then we will be heading to the airport! I had to get everything done today!

The evening was cooler, but I had no time nor energy to go for a run!

Daily Lovely Insight:

At the end of July, I will be speaking one more time... and the topic will be "From Failure to Fulfillment". I will look at Biblical characters or events. Paul, of course, is an excellent choice. In I Cor. 15:9, Paul describes himself this way: For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God

And in Acts 26: 9-11, he testified, saying, "Indeed, I myself thought I must do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. This I also did in Jerusalem, and many of the saints I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them . And I punished them often in every synagogue and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities."

Yet, this man became a zealous evangelist, who wrote a majority of the New Testament!

God is at work in transforming lives. He has done it in the past and He continues to do the same today!

Alan Arrived Safely... Weather Is Getting So Hot... Always A Lot to Get Done...

The morning started early... I checked to see if Alan sent a message and he did...

Our friend picked him up and he was going to bed... He was exhausted. No one wears mask there!

After Mom took off, it was a full day. I had tutoring at 10:30. Abby had her dental appointment, so I dropped her off and went to pick up goods. Prayer time online at 2pm. A friend came over to share and pray at 3pm. Mom was back at 5:10.

In the evening, I decided not to go to my tap class. I had message prep to finish up plus I wanted to go for a short run! That was the only time but it was still so hot... so so hot!

Abby went and had a workout and then met up with friends.

I got a message and a phone call from the center. CRAZY. The elderly center now requires all attendees to take antigen tests TWICE A WEEK. They will supply the testing kits and we are to send them the results. We must do this from now until the end of July! Everywhere else, things are relaxing, but not in Taiwan! It's totally ridiculous. I think someone in the government invested in the production of these antigen tests and must get rid of them. Can you imagine how many tests that will be for this entire island? Can you imagine the money that is spent to provide for these tests? All employees are subject to being tested twice a week or they can't come to work! And here Alan was saying that England seems completely relaxed about Covid!

Sending Alan Off... Speaking at Church...

I had very little sleep as we were up at 4:30. I had time with Jesus... and then we headed off.

We were at the airport and the line was long because all flights were grouped together! No wonder they ask people to come three hours before take-off!

I drove back and started to work... Doing a load of laundry... Cleaning up... Caring for Mom... The morning went by so fast...

I had to lay down as I wanted to fully in line to speak.

We left early to help set things up at church!

A Fabulous Run in the Thunderstorm!

Oh... it's been a while since I've had so much fun... but so little time. I only had 45 minutes... and I wish I could have been out there for two hours!

Alan is packed. I packed up Abby's which is the suitcase that Alan is taking. What a task that has been.

We have friends who are living at our old house, so they came over to pick up some items. Alan drove them back over to the apartment.

We had our Marriage Builders in the afternoon. Mom came with us and just stayed in the Church Office.

We came home for dinner!

Interesting Day... Too Much Going On...

Abby's trip hit a glitch. One of the drivers tested positive and had to pail out. We scrambled this morning to think of a solution. Abby was not happy... but they finally took off.

Alan and I went to buy a few items and have lunch together. Then we rushed to the bank as Alan had no GBP -- Great Britain Pound! After that was done, we went to see about buying him a new cell phone! Second hand... but decided not to. The thunderstorm started and the traffic got back. So, we had to call and tell the Center that we were coming to pick Mom up.

I had Italian spaghetti ready! I only needed to heat it up!

After Mom went to bed, the weather was still cool! So, I went off for a short run! Thank you Jesus!

Another Great Afternoon Tea!

Yes, I'm still working on the packing... what a process! I'm finished... I also booked Abby's hair dying appointment!

She then went to World Gym and I braved the heat. It was another short and hot run!

Alan was home and I took a quick shower and we were out.

Abby got the time mixed up but we were able to get everything done. We went to the bank and transferred the money for her DTS. We then headed to have another delicious afternoon tea! Grand Hyatt! We were right on time! 3:10!

I had told the Center that we'd be picking Mom up at 5:35. And we were fairly on time... 5:40! YIPPY!

Mom was home and had dinner!

I watched one episode of Murdoch Mysteries! Then Abby needed to buy a few things for the youth group. So, I drove her over to the store and waited in the car!

New Job...

I had to get Mom off fast... the van came at 8:30 and I was out the door on my scooter at 8:35. I didn't get there until 9:10. It was a fairly smooth ride.

I started with cleaning my desk... That was a major task! No one thought of organizing or dusting!

Then I had one article to read and edit.

I wrote a letter to Isaiah. During my lunch hour, I took a walk around the area and found some nice restaurants. It was way too hot to do more exploring, although I know the area quite well. I ran a few errands while I was out.

At 5:10, I finally left. Alan took care of Mom. I had to rush home, and then rush off to the old house. The WiFi guy called and he could come earlier! WOW!

That was done in 45 minutes! YIPPY!

I rushed home and put Mom to bed! Alan did dinner and pills and diaper!

What a day!

I thought about going for a run. It was cooler...

Abby went off to meet up with friends. Alan had a zoom meeting that was postponed to Friday morning!

Tutoring, Tutoring and More Tutoring...

Yes, after Mom left, I had tutoring at 10:30. That went until almost 12:30. Even though it was super hot, I went for a short run -- 7.5kms. I couldn't go longer. It was way too hot. When I got back, I found out that the people who were to be at our old apartment to connect the WiFi didn't show up. Then it turned out that I had to be there or else they won't install the WiFi. First, the guy said just my ID. Then he called and said I personally had to be there! I was not happy!

After many phone calls, I finally settle on tomorrow night at 7:30-10pm.

I rushed to tutor at 3:30.

When that was finished, I made reservation for afternoon tea on June 23rd. And I called to try to make a hair appointment for Abby. So many things to get done.

Mom was home and I had dinner planned. So that was great.

Alan was at school all day.

Abby went for a workout and then worked on her final essays! She has to get everything done by Thursday! She is the master of procrastination.

Tomorrow I will be at my new job all day! It's going to be interesting!

A Day of Organizing & Packing!

After Mom left, I pulled out all the luggage and weighed them, trying to find the lightest ones. Wow... That was quite a chore. Alan went to school and Abby went for a workout! A friend who will also be going to London has offered to carry a bag for Abby! So, we have to get that luggage packed before her departure! What a task! Our living room is now filled with four suitcases and three carry ons!

I did go for a short 7km run. It was way too hot! I think I will do the same tomorrow. Just run in the hot sun!

Abby went to an exhibition.

I also met up with another friend who is returning to the States. It was good to sit with her and pray together. Her health has not been well!

Father's Day!

People don't celebrate Father's Day in June here in Taiwan... In fact, Alan, in his talk, said that it was President Nixon in 1972 who designated the third Sunday in June as Father's Day.

How was the weather? It was a hot day.

We were all up early. Abby went for a short workout. Alan did grades.

I did a load of laundry and got Mom up and ready and eating. Alan was home, so I dashed over to Costco to get a few gifts.

I got back and we headed out for lunch! It was a church event to say good bye to Abby. What a fun time!

We were all early for church!

Alan shared.

Heat Wave... in the UK... and It's Just Hot in Taipei!

There is not time that is cool to go for a run. I forgot to write about yesterday's evening run. I had thought that it would be cooler... the temperature was the same, just no blaring sun. But it was still stifling hot.

Mom was up and I fixed her breakfast. I have all the weekend meals planned! Water dumplings, wontons, oatmeal with banana, something different for every meal!

Alan played tennis, but he came home quite early. Yes, it was that hot!

I did housework! And with all the fans on, full blast, it was still like a workout!

Then after lunch, I took Mom out for a drive. I went to Carrefour. and Watson's It was nice to enjoy the AC!

Abby had bought a ticket to go to see Lion King, the play. She said it was fantastic. Then this evening, she had our youth group.

Alan was busy all day with grades. It's a long and tedious task.

When Mom went to bed, I braved the heat and went out... Then I got more of the luggage organized. I had bought snacks that will be sent with Alan for the UK. So, even though I'm not leavening until late August, I am busy getting things ready for their departure!

Celebrating Abby's Graduation!

Last year on June 19th, we went to Soochow and took some graduation pictures. This morning we did the same with Abby. Knowing that there would be no rain, we went as soon as Alan was home from tennis. It was so much fun!

Then we went off to have beef noodles for lunch. Abby picked the place! We ate so much... plus bubble milk tea!

I had several things that I wanted to get done. Connect the WiFi for the old house as people are going to live there for six months and buy contact lenses for Abby -- 12 months worth! We got both those done and headed home for a nap! Too short... Mom was home! Wow, how did the day go by so quickly???

After Mom went to bed, I went off for a run. It was still hot, but at least not sunny!

I also had to go back to the store as they gave us a wrong pair! Since I was out, I bought more bubble milk tea... ha, ha, ha...

This morning before we took off, I worked on finishing July 3rd's talk! Yeah! I was able to finish it and have started on the ppt!

Yes, I had set aside today for prepping... I think I need to do that from now... Every Thursday!

Finished the Lesson in my Proverbs study.

Finished the talk notes and ppt for June 26th and started on July 3rd's talk!

Mailed the letter and paid a bill and picked up peanut M&M from someone for FREE!

Did a load of laundry... Tidied up around the house!

Went for a quick run, of course. The weather was cooler with droplets of rain! Just delightful! As I was heading back, the sun came out and wow, in less than a few seconds, it became quite warm!

Alan was at school all day.

It Rained!

Yes, the rain cooled the day down! It was  still warm, but it was a bit more pleasant.

I had time to go for a run, not a long one!

Then, I read through Isaiah's paper that's due today!

By 2:30, I was out the door as I was to go to the MOE Office to meet up with the people for my new job! It was raining quite hard, so I arrived completely soaking wet! What an interesting way to show up for a meet-up!

Alan was going to help with Mom as I went to buy bread and pay for the travel insurance on my way back from the meeting! I had made Mom Mexican spaghetti. YUMMY!

Isaiah and I had time to chat about the essay before he was to send it in!

Abby had dinner out with her coach. I guess it was a last minuet thing!

Productive Day!

Knowing that I'd be busy all day, as soon as Mom left for the Center, I headed out. It was already very hot! Then I had Bible study at 10am-- hybrid! Two gals came over and the rest of the gals decided to join on line. We are starting on Psalm 103.

Those who were here joined me for lunch! YUMMY!

Then I headed out to buy a material to work on the AC unit! Please pray for the 4th floor neighbor. They are not very forgiving! We have to be super quiet and our old machine is chipping and they don't like it!

Tutoring started at 3:30 and when that was finished, Mom was home!

Tonight, I had two groups of people coming over. One to do the travel insurance, another to pick up keys for our old house!

Prayer Walk Sunday!

The day was wet... but by the time we went out for our HOP Prayer Walk, it was muggy, but not raining! The temperature was a tad cooler. But looking at this week, the temperature will soar again... WAH!

I got Mom up and fed... I cut Alan's hair and did a few household chores. We had to leave early to get to church. I was preparing for my MOE class and had a few things to make copies.

We didn't have that many people. Many were home as they tested positive for Covid.

But what a powerful message the Lord put on our heart!

Daily Lovely Insight:

7 Highlights:

  1. God’s Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness and intercedes for us with groanings that are beyond words. Rom. 8:26
  2. Our chief work as followers of Christ is to be praying and interceding for others.
  3. Christ came, lived, died and rose again. He now lives forever as an intercessor.
  4. We can no longer ‘play’ at prayer.
  5. God is calling us to be praying for those who are persecuted. I Cor. 12:26
  6. God is calling us to be praying for leaders and governments. I Tim. 2:1-4
  7. God is calling us to pray boldly, moving away from selfish, self-centered, prayer.

Things Don't Ever Slow Down!

I can't tell you what a busy day I had...

I got Mom up and she had breakfast.

I continued to cook for the youth gathering...

Then when Alan came back from playing tennis, I went out to run a few errands. I had a book to pick up from the library. I had to check about getting WiFi at our old house and buy some onion and soy bean milk. I got home and fixed Mom her lunch.

Abby went for a workout and then came back to get ready for her graduation celebration! She left and I went out for a run! I thought it would rain, but no rain! I did run 11km and I felt great. So, I actually completed 44.4kms this week with four runs! ha, ha, ha...

After I got back, I fixed Mom her dinner and then finished the food prep. We left at 5:30 to drop off food and run a few more errands. Dropped off the donation that has been in the back of the car. Picked up a walker for a friend. Dropped that off and picked up Mom's wheelchair which we had loaned out. (We have our HOP Prayer Walk so we need it. But I'll be bringing it back to them after the prayer walk!)

I got home and finished my ppt and talk notes and emailed those off! Mom went to bed and I watched one episode of Murdoch Mysteries! I also started preparing my syllabus for the MOE class. Yes, another job... the pay isn't great, but I heard the work load is fun! I will keep you all posted! It's every Wednesday!

Recovered!

After a great night of rest, I was feeling so much better today. Not jet lagged... Not groggy!

Mom was off and I was off too... off for a run! It was sprinkling... but felt a bit like a sauna. But I was so ready to be out there... And the park was fairly empty!

I did 11... I hope to run 11 more tomorrow! It looks like there will be more rain!

Then, Abby and I rushed to Costco as I'm cooking for the Youth Group -- Mexican! The budget was 100US$! No problem!

I put everything in the pressure cooker. I had the beans in there last night. Mixed the sauces and the meat...

Then Alan, Abby and I were off to the Marriott for their afternoon tea... buffet style. They had prime ribs! Alan was happy!

We were late in coming back... the restaurant extended the time... So, we just enjoyed ourselves. But we were late as the driver was already at our house! YIKES!

This evening, Abby and Alan and two other friends went to watch Jurassic World. I don't enjoy that kind of movie, plus I have to take care of Mom. I wanted to go and watch Top Gun... But then that would be quite late... and I didn't want to exhaust myself. The weekend is the most tiring as Mom doesn't go to the Center.

Daily Lovely Insight:

I read a poem by Freda Hanbury Allen.

Lord, Thou Knows All the Hunger

Lord, Thou knowest all the hunger
Of the heart that seeks Thee now;
How my soul hath long been craving
What Thou only canst bestow.

Seeking now, seeking now,
Let Thy Spirit meet me now.

Failure in my walk and witness,
Failure in my work I see;
Fruitless toil, un-Christlike living,
Calling forth no praise to Thee.

Seeking now, seeking now,
Let Thy Spirit meet me now.

Now to Thee my soul confesses
All its failure, all its sin;
All the pride, the self-contentment,
All the “secret faults” within.

Seeking now, seeking now,
Let Thy Spirit meet me now.

Save me from myself, my Father,
From each subtle form of pride;
Lead me now with Christ to Calvary,
Show me I with Him have died.

Seeking now, seeking now,
Let Thy Spirit meet me now.

No more let it be my working
Nor my wisdom, love or power,
But the life of Jesus only,
Passing through me hour by hour.

Seeking now, seeking now,
Let Thy Spirit meet me now.

Let the fullness of Thy spirit
Resting on Him cover me,
That the witness borne to others,
May bring glory, Lord, to Thee.

Seeking now, seeking now,
Let Thy Spirit meet me now.

Father, in Thy Son’s name, pleading,
I believe my prayer is heard;
And I praise Thee for the answer,
Resting simply on Thy Word.

Praising now, praising now,

Thou hast answered, Lord, I know!Seek Him First!

Completely Wiped Out!

I was overly ambitious thinking I can go for a run and do lots of prep today. But after the third shot, I felt completely depleted, like a balloon with no air! I just wanted to sleep and sleep some more. My arm was extremely sore and I had no appetite. I did drink a lot of liquid! I hope I feel better tomorrow! I walked to the post office and back and felt exhausted! I can't imagine running 10kms. It's such a weird feeling, like I'm jet lagged!

Alan had class at home. He is recovering well!

Abby had one class and watched more Padres highlight. I guess they beat the Mets!

Mom was up and out in the morning and came back promptly at 5:10.

This evening, Abby went and met up with Juliet. Alan made a wise decision and did not go to play basketball as he needed to rest! I'm glad!

Perfect Weather for Running... but No Time!

This morning I had made two doctor's appointments... Maybe I was a bit overly ambitious. The two appointments were at the same hospital. But on a raining day, it was difficult to even get into the parking lot. So, I had to wait for a space. Then once in the hospital, I had to wheel Mom around! Well, it was not so easy. I was finished by 12:15, including getting her medications. After dropping her off, I went home and it was just nice to go to the bathroom!

After lunch, I had an appointment to get my third shot! When I arrived there, they didn't have a record of my appointment! I wanted BNT and it was finally available! While talking to the nurse, the BNT lady came and said, "We have a cancellation. She can have the shot!" What a praise! So, that took longer!

Alan needed to go to school to pick up notebooks and I wanted to drop off a Panasonic microwave to see if it can be fixed. Plus a sister needed to borrow a wheelchair. So, we ran errands. I wanted to go and run. But the nurse did say for me to NOT exercise for at least two days! The microwave cost 1700NT$ to fix. I said, "No thanks!" They disposed of it for me.

Alan was back in bed after dinner. He has a full day tomorrow!

Mom was home... and I didn't even have time to nap!

After blogging, I looked for possible part time job for Isaiah as he has more than five weeks from July 13th to August 25th.

Abby went for a workout. She almost missed her class this afternoon. She went out for lunch and thought she can just log in on her cell phone. NO! Must be done on her computer! She had to rush home and was an hour late. She missed the roll call... but the teacher was merciful. At the end of class, she asked again and Abby answered and was not marked absent! PRAISE JESUS! She has to pass all her classes in order to be heading out to Germany for DTS!

After Mom went to bed, the rain sounded so nice, so tempting. But I did not go out for a run. I read Isaiah's essay instead!

Nice & Wet!

What a drastic change! Today was wet and much cooler! I love this weather!

In the morning after Mom left, I took the time to sit and read! Totally delightful! Then I got the house ready, praying that Amy will finally show up. And she did!

I went for a run after making lunch and dinner! The run was just perfect... maybe if I had more time! I also put all the items down at the lobby for people to pick up. And Abby and I worked on more stuff to pack! She might have to do a second look as she's bringing too many things. And we haven't even looked at her make up and socks, etc.

Tonight I had Bible study. Alan was at school all day and didn't come back until almost 9pm, which my study finished!

I had a nice short chat with Isaiah. Still trying to firm up our plans! We have yet to book our transportation as we are not yet sure what route we will take if we buy the Eurail Global Pass!

Daily Lovely Insight:

The main point for our study tonight was: honor God with all that we have!

So Much To Do!

I can't believe how fast the day went by.

Abby and I went through her sweat shirts, jackets, and pants. These are things she won't be needing as it is heading to summer temperature here in Taipei. We have to start early as her packing is going to be very tricky. She has 25 kilos from Taipei to London, but no luggage weight from London to LA and back! Her clothes for LA will have to be in Alan's luggage. I have 25 kilos from Taipei to London, which I will be using to bring her stuff! I will allow myself 15 kilos and the rest will be for her. I need 15 kilos because of the gifts I am bringing for people we will be seeing in England and Europe. Of course, we do get a carry-on of 7 kilos even for her London to LA flight. Unfortunately, she is not a light packer... so we will see. Tomorrow we will work on tops and workout clothes. She also wants to bring a year's worth of contacts! But I told her not to bring shampoo and conditioner. She can buy those items in Germany.

What else kept me so busy? I found two microwaves, tons of kitchen stuff, and a suitcase as two apartments are being renovated. So, I lugged everything up and started cleaning and posting things for free. In my endeavor to help Abby, she has a few items that she doesn't want.  So, I'm going to attempt to sell these items. We will see...

The weather turned cooler! So, I had a run in the morning. It was still 25C but at least it wasn't blaring hot. Tap dancing tonight, so I did not work on booking the transportation for Europe.

I had to prep for my talks and my tutoring... plus Isaiah has an assignment that I'm helping with the editing.

Still Hot... Still No Rain!

What a day!

Alan went to play tennis but he was back by 9:30. It was scorching hot!

We all stayed indoor. And I totally didn't want to move. It was blazing hot inside!

For church, Abby and Mom stayed home as Abby wasn't feeling well. She rested and by the late afternoon, she was back to her perky self. Maybe she had the 48 hour covid!

We had Family Time tonight!
