Children's Day!

Mom was active all night!

It was a full day as Abby was in charge of the Children's Day activities. So we went to pick up a few items that were needed.

Alan had the Director's Meeting at 12:30. Abby went early to set everything up. I went with Mom at 2:15. The service was fantastic.

Alan led a station. Abby led a station. I led a station.

We came home and had dinner.

A Perfect Autumn Day!

I was up super early as Abby was talking about going to play some tennis... It didn't work out as she had to get ready for her group presentation today. She was at school all day! There were 12 groups, presenting on their summer internship experience!

I cleaned Mom's room and she had breakfast and went back to bed. She was up quite a bit last night!

Alan came back from tennis and after the laundry was done, I went out for a run! It was so nice that I decided to go just a bit longer.

I took a nap. No need to cook as we had hot dogs in the fridge!

It was cool but not raining, so I took Mom out for a walk. She didn't walk. She sat in the wheelchair! She usually has the blind masseuse, but we can't take her anymore. She is just getting weird. She is the same at church. She was going to the bathroom and flushing the toilet, over and over again. We had to lock the door!

Daily Lovely Insight:

I've started my new study on the book of Proverbs. One of the questions was to look at Proverbs 1:7 and write 10 insights.

Such A Fun Day!

After Mom took off, I went for a run! The weather was so perfect. I wanted to leave earlier, but I had to get the load of laundry in and get Mom's room cleaned before taking off.

Alan, Abby and I had bought coupons for a restaurant in the older part of Taipei. Because after lunch, we went cruising around. There were so many little stores. We were buying DIY handicraft items for the activity on Sunday. The lunch was fabulous. The cruising around was great. Alan just sat in the car while Abby and I walked around. Since we didn't have any errands, it was nice and relaxing. I found a key place and had a key made. I found a fruit stand and bought apples. We went to Coco and bought bubble milk tea.

We came back and Mom was home! The day just goes by too fast!

Abby had tutoring in the evening.

Alan went for another workout, getting ready for his basketball tournament. That's coming up in the middle of November. He is so happy that they didn't cancel!

Daily Lovely Insight:

DeAccumulate! That's a good word. It's like DeClutter! Jesus told his disciples to DeAccumulate!

Luke 9:3

Luke 9:3 And he said to them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor money, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.

I read about Project 333. But Jesus isn't saying Project 333. He's saying, TAKE NOTHING! That's an extreme makeover! That's more than Marie Kondo style!

I just was caught with this thought... What was Jesus saying? What's the heart of what Jesus was telling the disciples? What's Jesus telling us today?

Keeping Thursday "Free"

That's what I intended... keep one day a week 'free'... but that doesn't really happen. Read on!

This morning after Mom took off, I was on my scooter, rushing to go and pick up my new Bible study book on Proverbs! WISDOM! Then I went to Carrefour to see what they had on the discount rack.. Ritz crackers! Alan will be happy! While there, I got a message. The person I loaned a tablet to was already at the MRT Station. So, off I went to meet up with him and get the tablet back. I like it when these people arrive earlier than the set time. It sure is better than waiting around for people!

I was home by 10:40 and I wanted to spend just one hour to 'put things away'. That always ends up to be more than one hour! Sure enough, it was more like two and a half hour! That's also because while organizing the study and Isaiah's room, I got a message that editing was needed! And I had to turn on our WiFi to download the article. I also received my updated teaching schedule for a government agency! I was finally out the door for my run at 13:38! And the weather was terrific!

I ran 10k and rushed back to shower and go off for my massage! Abby joined me. I had to leave early to rush back for Mom. I had dinner made already, so I popped it into the microwave and Mom was home! What timing! For a 'free' day, there sure was a lot of rushing around!

Abby had basketball practice as did Alan. So, I had the evening all to myself after Mom went off to bed. I've been watching British mystery/detective TV shows on YouTube while I do my sit-ups on this machine I found in the recycling area of our complex. I really like it! I'm going to do it every day for a month. I also found YouTube videos which showed me how to clean the great Hitachi vacuum cleaner I got, also from the recycling area of our complex. I love it. Yes, it took some of my 'free' time this evening to figure out how to disassemble all the parts, but a great cleaning was all it needed!

What is wisdom?

I had my Soochow Bible study and I had the students in groups to make a collage to express their thoughts and definitions of wisdom! It was really fun!

Then Abby and I rushed over to the ShinYi District, trying to catch the 3:50 movie. It turned out they cancelled that show. So, we had to ride all the way back to Miramar to catch the 5:25. Alan had to do Mom duty! At least I had taken out the pills and dinner! I did call to make sure he was ok with that!

We watched ShangChi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. I really enjoyed the movie!

Daily Lovely Insight:

Bible Study Tuesday!

The morning always starts early...

Made a rice dish and sausages for our Bible study group. One sister brought dessert. Another sister brought snacks. And another gal brought tea! We had a great study!

After cleaning up and putting things away, I went for a quick run. 10K. It was quite warm.

I rushed home and showered and got the WiFi on to tutor at 4pm.

Already A Week!

It was last week that we went and had our Pfizer vaccination... It's already been a week!

This morning, I had to do a load and then sent Mom off.

I rushed to go tutor... and afterwards had lunch and prayer time with a dear sister over at her house. She bought lunch boxes, had fresh fruit and coffee... delightful and very filling!

I rushed home to check if I had things to edit... and then went for a run!

Abby was home and wasted her time... Then she finally went for a short workout before going to tutor at 7pm.

Alan was at school all day and he got back around 6:30.

Sunday!

I was hoping to sleep in... but Alan was up for a tennis tournament. We prayed together before he took off. Then I went and had my time with Jesus.

Mom was up! Of course!

It was raining.

I found a nice working vacuum cleaner!

Mom was willing to rest and I did too! But she was not willing to stay put during the service. I had to translate, so Abby helped!

We had ordered dinner boxes, which everyone brought home to eat.

We had Family Time this evening!

Another Fulfilling and Full Day!

I had to be up early as I wanted time with Jesus and a run before the complex meeting... which went on and on and on...

Amy came over at 12:30 and we left at 1:00 to have lunch with a friend and play Mahjong! We brought half of a Costco pumpkin pie and a salad. He made pasta and soup. So delicious!

We had to rush back by 6:30 as I had to get Mom her dinner and ready for bed. The traffic was a bit congested but we made it.

After Mom went to bed, I checked my email and I had editing to finish up!

Abby had tutoring at 8pm and I had two loads of laundry to get done. I didn't want Amy to do that as I had lots of other jobs for her to help out with! The house smelled so nice when we got home!

Daily Lovely Insight:

Exodus 3: 1-2 is a great passage as a follow up to yesterday's post. Moses was just doing his usual job of shepherding the sheep when the burning bush happened, God appeared and miracles followed. It is easy to trust when things are going well. But we must learn to trust when we don't understand. That's the real definition of trust!

For we walk by faith, not by sight!

007 and More! (Or should I write, Moore?)

God is so good to me...

This morning while I was doing the pills, the Lord suddenly led me to look at my Mom's pouch. Sure enough, I had an appointment to see the doctor on her behalf in order to pick up more medication. I thought I was running low. So, I rushed over there, waited and got her meds.

I rushed back and we all went to Costco and RT Mart. It wasn't too bad... On the way to the movie theater, we dropped off donations which will be shipped to the Philippines at the beginning of November.

After putting all the groceries away, we rode our scooters to Miramar and it was 13:10! The movie started at 13:20 and I always want to be there to watch the previews.

I do enjoy 007. And... OK, I won't tell you more (or Moore).

Daily Lovely Insight:

In the dailyness of life, God shows up miraculously

I like that quote... It's not in the extraordinary special moments, but maybe in the mundane doing-the-housework moments, God shows up and it is miraculous.

I guess the Samaritan woman understood that quote. She was just going about her daily grind of going to the usual well to get water and she encounters Jesus and is forever changed.

Don't miss an opportunity to grow in your awareness of the presence of God!

Cooler!

Nice day... overcast... with a bit of a drizzle!

I spent the morning going over my time sheet and turned it in. Then I organized my files. That was very time consuming. I only finished one folder!

Off for a run! With the weather... I love being out there.

Then to the Cell Phone Company to renew Isaiah's cell and got a small toaster oven for free!

Cooked dinner, did a load of laundry... Mom was home!

I had tutoring tonight!

Daily Lovely Insight:

Be anxious for nothing... Never worry about anything... Those are the beginnings in two different translations of Phil. 4:6, the verse that my Soochow Bible study students are memorizing this week. It's a good reminder. Alan is already looking into tickets for Wimbledon 2022. Yes, he is hoping to go... And I'm thinking... How will all this work out? Then this verse popped into my head.

The peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus!

The Power of Thanksgiving

That's the topic today. I brought the pumpkin pie from Costco and coffee. What a delightful time.

In the morning, I went to the bank as I had to transfer the application fee for Abby. She's applying to Freiburg Youth With A Mission, Discipleship Training School, for Fall of 2022, which starts in September! 30 Euro plus a 15US$ transfer fee. It took me an hour to get that done! It wasn't the line, but they asked so many questions.

This afternoon was the Bible study. We had eight kids!

And I went for a run after coming home.

This evening was spent editing!

Sore Arm!

I wanted to sleep in this morning... just for a little bit... but no can do! Mom was up and active! So, I went in to make sure she was ok and saw the mess and went to have my quiet time.

After she took off, I spent the morning cleaning! I'm glad I didn't have any appointments until 4pm. That gave me time to get things done and buy some items for my evening Bible study.

The weather was gorgeous, so I went out for an easy jog AFTER an hour nap! I've been drinking a lot of water! The jog was slow, but refreshing!

After a quick shower, I was in front of the computer with tutoring! What a great session!

Then this evening I had Bible study! And we met face to face and had a pot luck!

BNT! First Jab!

The weather was so perfect... at least my definition of perfect! Overcast, 19C, no rain, slight breeze... yes, I love the rain, but not when there is a slight breeze with cooler temperature.

I went for a run right after Mom took off. I would have loved to run and run and run... but we had to go to get vaccinated!

It was in what looked like a warehouse and so many people! Very organized... one step at a time...

Afterwards, Alan and I went and had lunch together, just the two of us, which we haven't done for quite a long time. We were doing a lot of fun things with Isaiah and Abby... and now that Abby has Friday off, we try to go out with her and Vikki! So, it was a treat!

I had to rush off as I got a message that editing was waiting for me.

I also had made an appointment for a hair wash... What a treat... Perfect after vaccination!

Then it was work...

I was going to meet up with Elaine at my house, but we postponed. I didn't know if I'd be tired... But it turned out that even though I was tired, I had no time to rest!

Sabbath Rest!

This is the second Sunday that I've 'worked' on resting so that I'm not tired at church. It was wonderful!

We had DimSum lunch with our church elders. It was wonderful!

Mom ate a lot!

But at church I had to sit in the back with her. That's going to be the usual from now on.

We are ordering Love Feast and taking it home to eat. Mom again ate a lot!

We had time to chat with Isaiah tonight. I always enjoy our weekly time.

Daily Lovely Insight:

Hitting My Goal!

I didn't think I'd be able to do it... but it's DONE! 100k in six days of running!

Monday was the Double Ten holiday and God freed up Thursday. That gave me the time to pursue this goal! By Friday, I was so close that I decided to take the challenge and go for it. And I can't believe that I got it done before the weather got cooler! Amazing!

So, even though it's been a week of doing a load of laundry almost every day, I have gone out and enjoyed being alone. I think that has kept me sane... of course, the time with Jesus every morning is really KEY to keeping the godly perspective during this season.

Alan and Mom went to get a massage, but Mom peed in her pants and I didn't put a diaper on her. The blind masseuses don't like having Mom come anymore. Oh well... Mom sure enjoys the massage, but her dementia is getting worst! She doesn't cooperate with the gal and might want to go to the bathroom half way through the massage!

We didn't have our Family Time tonight... Hopefully tomorrow. Abby had tutoring and she went and worked out at World Gym.

Costco started selling pumpkin pies! YIPPY!

People have been asking about the tension between Taiwan and China. Please pray! Both Tsai and Xi are proud individuals and that doesn't help! The party (DPP) that Tsai represents wants to push for independence. Xi spoke and said, "Keep the status quo." That was the KMT way of handling things. But in Tsai's address on 10/10, she spoke exactly the opposite. "Don't keep the status quo!" Hence, the tension has elevated! But honestly, I don't think both sides will do anything any time soon. I know God is in control!

Fun Friday!

Alan and I both received our notification -- BNT next Monday 10-11am!

And I went and picked up our vouchers... YEAH!

In the morning I had to do a load of laundry (YES!) and went for a quick run. It was too hot to run long! Then we were off to pick up Vikki for lunch.

I found a nice steak place!

After lunch, we dropped Vikki back home as she had lots of homework to finish up. We went and renewed the phone contracts for Alan and Abby and got two free vacuum cleaners. I will go in and renew Isaiah's and maybe get something else... we will see!

Then we were home... after picking up some soy bean milk and coffee.

We had brought all the leftovers from our lunch, so Mom had a delicious dinner.

I was so tired that I had to lay down for 20 minutes.

Such A Great Day!

It was going to be a crazy day, but the LORD removed all the appointments. I'm so glad! I need more days like today!

No AIT... No need to go to the housing report center! So, basically, I had a FREE day!

After Mom took off (AND NO LOAD OF LAUNDRY!), I looked through all the old emails and then cleaned out my desk!

Abby and I had salads for lunch. So yummy!

Abby had class at 1:10 and I went for a run! It was still warm! I was completely drenched when I got back.

Daily Lovely Insight:

Yesterday, it was GIVE THANKS...

Today, the LORD gave me the word -- REBUKE. In my morning reading, this word kept popping up. Jesus rebuked the wind. Jesus rebuked the evil spirits. Jesus rebuked unbelief! So, I decided to look this word up!

If you receive a rebuke, it means that you have been reprimanded, or scolded. The root means to hack down or beat back. A rebuke then is meant to be critical and to chide. In today's terms, a rebuke is a verbal smack down!

What do you think this means?

All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.2 Timothy 3:16(NIV)

Soochow Study Started!

Today was our first session and we were able to meet in person.

I baked this morning and it turned out really nice. A custard pudding apple bread -- made with fresh apples. I saw the recipe on line. I have a few other recipes to try.

I also went for a run and it was a lot warmer than I had liked... I like running in cooler weather...

Abby and I left at 12:45.

I cancelled the appointment at AIT for tomorrow as several people told me that there is a wait even if your appointment is for 9:30. One sister didn't get to see the notary personnel until after 10:30. She waited for over an hour. Another sister, who is a lawyer, told me I better prep my mom because they will 'assess' her mental state. if they deem her not mentally sound, they won't notarize the document and it would be a wasted trip. After all these comments, I messaged Annie and said forget it! Too much hassle! Prep Mom? Are you kidding? She might be fine one minute and then totally weird the next!

And yes, I had to do another load of laundry this morning!

This evening, I had prayer time with a sister, but no other appointments. But I did rush home from the Bible study because I received a message to edit a document!

Daily Lovely Insight:

Today's study was about Thanksgiving... and on Monday was Thanksgiving in Canada! Although I was told on Tuesday that there were only two students, 10 actually showed up! Three were new and the rest were from last year. In fact, four from last year weren't able to make it today but said that they will be dropping by! How fun!

We listed verses related to giving thanks... in all circumstances...

Windy Tuesday!

It was a hectic day... Abby didn't have any classes, so she went to ORTV for me to pick up and pay for the Soochow Bible study books.

I had my Tuesday morning Bible study and we met in person! That was so nice! We have not done that for the past three or four months!

Then it was off for a quick run. I wanted some rain, but nothing. In fact, it won't be getting cooler until next week or towards the end of October! And by cooler, I mean nothing over 30C. Isaiah is adding a blanket on his bed as the nights are down under 10C. He is still riding his bike!

After the run, I had to take a quick shower as tutoring started at 4pm. As soon as that was finished, the phone rang. Yes, Mom was home! I quickly put her dinner in the microwave and went down to pick her up. Abby had tutoring, so she wasn't home. Alan had class, so he wasn't home.

I had class this evening! So, it was a rush. Abby came home for a bit and went off for her second tutoring session. Mom went to bed and I took off for my class.

I had dinner made for Alan and one of the Bible study gals had baked an apple crumble, so I brought that to share with the kids from evening class. I will have to bake for tomorrow's study!

Double Ten Holiday!

What a nice break!

At 11am, I met up with HOP people to look at a possible place to rent or buy. It used to be a church... We all loved the place. We will pray and see how the Lord leads. Very expensive!

Isaiah had practice as the team will be split into three tiers. We will find out if he made it to Tier 1!

I went for a run... not long enough... the weather was drizzling and cloudy. My perfect running weather. I guess a typhoon is blowing through... so the wind was super strong.

Mom did not go to the massage place. Alan and Abby did. I stayed with Mom at home and used the time to edit... and sent everything off. It's going to be a busy week...

Daily Lovely Insight:

We finished the book about George Muller! Even though Isaiah is in Coventry, we have had Family Time. What an amazing testimony of God's faithfulness and the power of prayer. It was a great book to read as we consider where the LORD will plant HOP and as Isaiah is in the UK. My Bible study is also searching for the next study to start. So, I've been listening and watching quite a few Bible study series. Since Isaiah has been visiting different churches, I've also been checking out the sermons from these churches. Yes, all these inputs are great, but the best source for me is still the Word of God, like this verse:

A Sabbath!

I really don't like going to church feeling tired. So, instead of trying to do so many things before church, I let myself REST! It felt so good!

I only went to buy some items at Carrefour as we wanted some yogurt! And they had quite a few on special!

We were at church and helped set up. We ordered food, but sent them with everyone to eat at home! The dinner boxes were so yummy!

After Mom went to bed, Isaiah called and we had Family Time!

Tomorrow is a holiday... but we don't plan to do much! I'm so glad!

Daily Lovely Insight:

Our speaker had a very interesting insight! The booklet, the Four Spiritual Laws, is written from a guilt standpoint whereas in Asia, the people needs to hear the Gospel as a restoration from Shame to Honor! In this culture, people lose face... people care about community. So, we should be sensitive and share from that perspective. Acts 26:18 highlights how the Gospel is relevant to every culture!

Guilt to Innocence

Shame to Honor

Fear to Power

This verse hits upon all three aspects!

A Day of Hiking!

It's been a gift to have Amy, the Filipino helper, come twice a month.

She keeps Mom company and CLEANS OUR HOUSE! And she does such a fantastic job. Today she worked on Abby's room!

For those six sweet hours, Alan, Abby and I can go off and have some fun. We decided to do some hiking. We've been wanting to explore the area behind our house. And we finally did it today. We found out that there are so many trails. It was only a 15 minute drive, so we didn't have to worry about traffic. We found a nice parking spot and started off! The time flew by. I'm happy to report that we found a waterfall!

We came home and the house was beautifully cleaned... and Mom was happy. I fixed her dinner and she also got to talk to James.

I was so tired... Alan and Abby both went and took a nap! I hung out with Mom!

We wanted to do Family Time with Isaiah, but he has a tennis event plus Christian Sports in Action! We will have to see if we can do it maybe Monday night or Sunday night. Monday is a holiday, so it might work!

Mom will go for her massage on Monday -- MAYBE. She is not very obedient anymore when she is there. So, we might not be able to do that. What I mean is that she insists on going to the bathroom, and we can't have that! We will see...

News about Isaiah: Classes have started, but they split it into one-one-one. One hour on line, one hour in an assigned small group and one hour at school in person with the teacher or the TA. Isaiah says he has a lot of reading to do. As for tennis, they have fitness training and practice. But it seems like it's ok if you miss a session as long as you let the captains know in advance. Their first game will be on Wednesday, 10/13. He doesn't know if he will be playing singles or doubles. Some of the tennis team guys seem to be pretty wild. He has also gotten involved with Christian Union and the on campus activities they sponsor. The group is quite active and has a lot of fun together. They even serve hot chocolate from 10pm to 3am on Wednesday evening!  Please keep Isaiah in your prayer! He hasn't settled on a church yet. He wants to visit possibly two more.

Bubble Milk Tea Museum!

 Another Fun Friday!

But first, I had to do another load of laundry... and my left side got a bit whacked out... God is healing me!

We drove out to Ilan and had a fabulous lunch at the Bubble Milk Tea Museum Restaurant. All you can drink of the bubble milk tea and it was very delicious. Not diluted or watered down and they served it with plenty of 'pearl drops'. The company started with coffee beans and expanded to bubble milk tea and that's how they made their million!

We were hoping to go to a nearby beach, but no time! Yes, we had to rush back, fearing that the traffic would be horrendous since this is the beginning of the long 10/10 holiday weekend!

We did stop at Costco as pizza was on sale!

Abby had tutoring at 5pm and Mom was back promptly at 5:13!

It's still hot here... I got up early and went for a run before getting Mom up. That worked out well. After Mom went to bed, Abby went for a workout. Alan and I read our devotional books and I had time to 'nap' before talking to Isaiah.

Isaiah Made It!

Yes, he made it into the Varsity Tennis Team! The practice and fitness sessions are quite intense. So, he has to work around his class schedule plus he is getting quite involved in the Christian Union! We got to talk to him tonight! So good to hear his voice!

It was another hot day... with lots to do... Mom pulled off the diaper, but didn't do too much damage, not like yesterday! I can hold off from doing another load of laundry! YEAH!

I met up with an old friend and had lunch at her place. Then I rushed home to check about editing. I was able to finish that before Mom got home! YEAH!

I had to put off running until this evening even though it was still hot, at least I wasn't under the blaring sun!

Daily Lovely Insight:

I never knew about Frank Lauback! He discovered a reading method and taught the Filipinos to read! He also had this idea of learning the vocabulary of God and to think on Christ every minute of the day. The Benedictine had a rule called "ora et labora" -- pray and work!

I like that idea to be in constant commune with God, no matter where you're at or what you are doing!

Keep Today "Free"!

I knew I had another load of laundry to do when I got up at 5:30 by the smell. I can't even describe the mess!

After Mom went off, I spent the next two hours cleaning because I had to soak everything in vinegar and detergent.  God was very merciful as I was hoping to go for a run early, but even though I didn't leave until 10:40, at the end of the run, the clouds and wind and rain came... It was a miracle!

Alan went to school.

Abby had class online!

I went and did a few errands!

I had no appointment! So, the afternoon was quite relaxing! I spent the time listening to a few Bible studies as my Tuesday evening group has finished the Trustworthy study and will be deciding on a new study.

Too Fast of A Day with Too Much To DO!

I had to do another load of laundry... You know what that means!

Mom went off and I headed out for a run. According to the weather report, it was going to drop to 24C between 9-10am! And sure enough at around 10am, it got hot... probably 31C!

I came home and quickly took a shower and went out the door to meet up with a friend.

Afterwards, I went in search of romaine lettuce and rushed home to make lunch and dinner.

I looked on my cell phone -- a message to edit things.

I was on my computer as I had several things to finish and tutoring started at 4pm!

Sure enough, when that ended, the phone rang. 5:13 -- Mom was back. I asked Alan to go downstairs as I had to put together Mom's dinner.

Isaiah was up and had a 30 minute online class before he was heading out to take the train to Birmingham. Since he was awake, we coordinated so that he bought his bus pass for the year! Yeah! He should be receiving the "smart card" on Friday!

I had Bible study this evening... and Abby sent off one of her applications and is still waiting for a response from YWAM Athens!

Hot Run... Fast Day!

Mom went off to the Center, even though she was again complaining about her leg and pain.

Then I went for a run!

I had baked and cooked this past weekend and there was still leftover! Yippy!

I had time for a nap... so rare... so needed! And then went off to run an errand and got back just in time for prayer time at 3pm.

Mom was back by 5:13 and I was in a rush. I had to teach tonight! Tomorrow night is Bible study! I looked and it's going to be a busy week!

I had things to edit... which I finished up after teaching.

Then Isaiah had his tryouts... He said some of the players are pretty good. I hope he makes the Varsity squad. We are still figuring out what bus pass to purchase on line!
