My Wonderful Mommy Not Feeling Well

I got a message from today that my mommy was admitted to the ER with high fever, high blood pressure and being non-responsive.

After being given some strong antibiotics and my sweet sister staying with her at the hospital overnight, she woke up feeling better. But her fever still goes up and down.  Even though they have given her a battery of tests, they still can't figure out what the problem is.  Here is a picture of her after a night at the hospital.

Please keep her in your prayer. Please pray for my sister, too!  She wasn't feeling well and now she's very exhausted.

Puzzling Over Storage Space

This morning I had to tackle trying to put away the luggage that Alan brought back and a bag of stuff animals that I cleaned out from Isaiah's top bunk.

Now, you might not know, but storage space here in the homes in Taiwan is very limited and difficult to come by.  So, when we had our house remodeled, we made built in shelves in our living room.

The trick is to fit --

three suitcases
five carry-on
two radiator heaters
two folding tables
two full rolls of wrapping paper
one old typewriter
one fan
unused framed pictures
medical supplies
batteries
flashlights
packing tapes
sewing supplies
drums
amplifier
pillowcase filled with stuff animals
and other odds and ends (such as an exercise mat, heavy duty raincoats...)

Into this space.

It was like a puzzle. I had to take everything out to shuffle and reshuffle.  I took a picture as I thought it will help you to 'get the picture'.

After about two hours, it was done. The doors closed and everything was in and I can open the doors without something falling on top of me!!!

Another Running Around Day

To report on yesterday's post --

Got the waterproof paint. It worked really well. Quick drying, and I had to put two coats on. Then a coat of paint... NICE!

Light fixture... even though I had the serial number, they laughed when I asked for a replacement part. The lady was like -- that's 14 years ago. We don't have that in stock and have discontinued that particular style.  So, I replaced the light bulb... It looks a bit weird, but it works.

I borrowed the step ladder from our complex and changed the light bulbs in our entry way ceiling.

Yes, I did two more loads of laundry. I think I need to do only one more tomorrow and I'll be finished!  NICE!

I cleaned up Isaiah's top bunk by putting away some of his stuff animals and changing the sheet. And I touched up the walls in his room. NICE!

I had to scooter down to drop off a suitcase of stuff for my brother and mail a box of stuff for my sister. Her birthday is coming up!!!! I hope the package will arrive by March 8th.

I went groceries shopping again as I needed some basic staples which I did not want to buy in bulk at Costco.

And yes, I went for another run!!!!  That's twice in a row now. I hope to run every day (except Sunday) while Isaiah is gone.  NICE!

This & That

I decided to start washing our blankets. So, today, I did two loads.  I will have to do at least three more loads this week.

While I was at it, I decided to touch-up paint our walls.

That led me to a spot that was moldy. So, I started scraping and it turns out that the area needed some waterproof paint.  I have no idea where the mildew was coming from.

Tomorrow, I'm heading out to a hardware store to buy the waterproofing paint.

I also need to replace a glass light fixture and some light bulbs.  While trying to remove it, Alan broke it. Now, I unscrewed it and the date on the back was from 14 years ago!!! I don't know if I can find a replacement.

Needless to say, the day went by very quickly. And I think it will be the same tomorrow.

Alan's Back and Isaiah's Gone

Yes, it's true.

Alan got back at 7:45 and Isaiah left at 8:45.

They had one hour...

Alan got back from the States.

Isaiah went down to Tainan. He'll be practicing for the next four days and then the tournament is on Friday and Saturday.

I hope to see Isaiah back by Sunday! But now he says he might have to go to another tournament from 3/3 to 3/10. He might be away for 17 days!!!!

After dropping Isaiah off, I spent the rest of the morning putting away all the things that Alan brought back.

Then Abby and I went for another great bike ride.

This evening is her last free evening. But she still has more homework from school to get finished. How quickly this 'vacation' has flown by!

One More Day

It's finally here... Alan is set to be back by tomorrow early morning... well, not early enough for me. But Isaiah will be gone an hour after Alan gets back.  At least they'll see each other.  We thought they wouldn't even see each other! So, this is an answer to prayer.

Today... wow... what a day!

I spoke in the morning and then translated in the afternoon.

The message in the afternoon was so spot on... from Luke 24:25-33.

Three things I learned or never thought of --
1.  The two disciples were 'running away'.
2.  Jesus chose to reveal himself after his resurrection to women first because men think too much.
3.  The passage reveals the steps to intimacy -- Jesus first listened, then spoke and taught, finally he revealed himself.

It was a long day but He walked with me and carried me through.

Thoughts on Heaven

With whatever spare time I have, I like to read.

I try to have books, magazines, articles nearby... just so that I'd have something to read whenever I have time.

Recently I read this poem --

Heaven
Author Unknown

Think of --
Stepping on shore, and finding it Heaven!
Of taking hold of a hand, and finding it God's hand.
Of breathing a new air, and finding it celestial air.
Of feeling invigorated, and finding it immortality.
Of passing from storm to tempest to an unbroken calm.
Of waking up, and finding it Home.

I like the last line best.

Of waking up, and finding it Home.

There's been news after news of people being beheaded by 'terrorists'.  A group of 21 Egyptian believers were beheaded and the 'terrorists' said that they wanted to make the sea red with the blood of those who call themselves Christians.

Like this unknown author, I cling to the truth that death is but entering Home.

Another Splendid Afternoon

Today we went to Renoir, a puzzle cafe.

You buy a snack or drink and by how much you spend, you get to put together a certain puzzle. The more you spend, the more difficult your puzzle.

It was a treat from Uncle David. His son was working there during the Chinese New Year holiday as the cafe was short-handed.

We spent the entire afternoon putting together several different kinds of puzzles.

We had a splendid afternoon.

On the way home, we bought two large pizzas and ate them while we watched yet another movie.

To Danhsui and Back

What a day!

We rode a total of about 50 kilometers.

At certain places, it was so crowded that we had to walk our bikes.

We left at 3:15 and got back by 7:45 in the evening.

We were riding in the dark by the time we were heading back to Neihu.

And it was windy!!!!

Isaiah took pictures along the way and posted them on FB. He did an awesome job capturing this picture.

We had FUN!

What a way to spend the first day of Chinese New Year!
