Canadian Day & Other Fun Things...

I started this morning early with tutoring...

Then rode around to look for a few items to buy... but unfortunately, did not find what I wanted.

I rushed home to get Abby ready for her retreat... Dropped her off and she'll be gone until late Monday night.

In the afternoon, it rained again... but this time, it did not help... It just made the afternoon very muggy...

We went to Canadian Day as one of our friends was playing on a band... Good music... but all the food stalls were quite expensive. We decided to head out to Shihlin Night Market as I had purchases tons of coupons of places to try when Pam and Suz and family were here... We never got to use them.

So, we bought ice cream waffles, bubble milk tea and Brazilian pockets... YUMMY...

Isaiah was meeting up with his tennis buddies, so we dropped him off before heading to Alan's school to pick up the luggage we store in his office. Yes, we need to start packing. I never wait until the last minute.

In the evening, I ran and ran around, looking for those things to buy... It was still so hot at 9pm!

The Rain Helped

The past few days seemed unbearably hot... It didn't matter if I went out at 7am or 10pm, it was HOT, HOT, HOT...

Then it rained today...

Oh... coming back home on the scooter at 10:30 felt so good... It was 79!

Today was another busy day... And Alan told me that he invited his debate kids to come over for dinner on Monday night... so I'll be cooking for them... well... I guess I'll sleep on the plane!

Birth & Birthday!

Sherry and Matthew, who were the HOP pastoral couple, welcomed their third child today at around 4pm... The due date was around Alan's birthday but the doctor said... TODAY!

It is also my older brother's 61st birthday! Happy Birthday, James!

Mom went to her knee exercise class this morning... and I'm also happy to announce that I have gotten Mom's weight down close to 110 pounds! Three meals a day... no opening the fridge... no snacks... lots of different fruits in the morning... and moderate portions for lunch and dinner. In fact, we don't let her 'try' other people's food! Plus, she's exercising daily... and different kind of exercises. So, it's not just walking to the mailbox... Mom really likes being in Taiwan. Oh... it's also hot here, so she probably doesn't feel like eating as much as she was in the States! She does drink more water, that's for sure!

I had my last class at NSB... well, my last class until after I return from the States. The students have really gelled together... We love being together!

Yes, we are down to seven days before our departure... I know she's going to enjoy the flight and the food on the flight... So, I'm going to weigh her the morning of our departure and take a picture of the scale to show Annie... I wonder what will be her weight at the end of seven weeks in the States...

Shopping Has Started!

I took Mom to the store to start buying things... Things that we will be carting to the States!

In the afternoon, Alan took her to her physical therapy while I went to tutor...

It's weird... Mom is finally feeling tired... So, she went to bed at 7pm while Alan and I had counseling... Both kids were home... Isaiah had to study and Abby was working on her upcoming retreat!

Yes, it's still very hot...

Feeling Tired...

I think it finally hit... I'm feeling tired.

Mom was too...

The church didn't have their Tuesday morning program because the seniors went on an outing. I couldn't go with Mom since I had to teach in the afternoon. And Mom couldn't go on her own as she needs an assistant!

So, when I left to teach, Mom went to take a nap.

Abby was home and Mary came over... She is really slow... After this season of teaching, I'm praying for a better 'helper'. When she first started, I was hoping that she would be able to finish 7 small jobs. Today I gave her only 3 small jobs and by the time I got home, she didn't even get those finished! It's very disappointing... and she does more surface cleaning but is not very thorough when doing deep cleaning!

I took Mom to Carrefour and bought milk... also so that she can have a little bit of exercise!

It was an extremely hot day... and it's going to be like that all the way until we go to the States... I think Mom is going to think that Torrance is COLD after being here!  We will see...

Alan Down South & Catching Up

Alan is in Tainan for his faculty and staff basketball tournament. They won both of their games! Hopefully, they will go all the way... And miraculously, Alan scored 12 points in one game!

In other news, I did a load of clothes, and tried to tidy up the house and catch up on emails.

In the afternoon, I took Mom over to her afternoon exercise program and also made an appointment for her to get a full body acupressure massage. She enjoyed it tremendously.

Abby was home...

Isaiah was busy with finals... He got back one of his papers and he didn't get as high a score as he had hoped -- 87! He wants above 90 so that he can attempt to be number 1 again this semester! Please pray!

I hope to go to bed early tonight... It's going to be a busy week... Actually, it's going to be a busy 10 days before we head to the States!

All Glory and Honor to Jesus!

Last night the New Beitou Baptist Church emailed me -- they hadn't received my ppt file! I had not had time to finish it... I got it done and sent it off...

This morning, I got up early... and just asked Jesus to carry me through... My voice was feeling horse... I had to review my talk notes... and just wanted to pray over both talks.

God did it all...

God sustained my voice and gave me strength... He also added a lot that I didn't have on my talk notes.

Looking at these next 10 days before heading back to the States, I do have a lot to get done... But I know God will do it all...

To Him be all the glory and honor...

An Amazing 10 Days!

What an amazing 10 days!

Thank you for your prayer support!

Alan and Isaiah did a fantastic job in caring for my mom!

Abby and I had a fantastic time in Beijing. We walked so much... Forbidden City, the Great Wall, the Summer Palace! But Beijing has changed a lot. No more street food vendors... No more "flea market stalls".  Because it was a holiday weekend, wherever we went, there were tons of people. You couldn't get a picture without throngs of people!

We returned to Taipei late Monday night... I had to teach on Tuesday afternoon and Pam, Hailey, Suz, Kayla, Sarah and Stevie arrived on Tuesday evening. We all went to the Shihlin Night Market. It was the best hotel for them. On Wednesday we went to the Presidential Building and took a tour, CKS Memorial Hall, the Aroma Coffee Shop, Hsinmenting, National Palace Museum, drove around Neihu and rode the Ferris wheel... I can't even recall where we had dinner... Thursday was a day out in Danhsui and Fisherman Wharf and Red Hair Castle... In the afternoon, they went to Alan's classes... and then got their hair done and spent the evening at the night market.  Friday, we rented a car so that we can drive out to Yehliu, ShiFen and PingShi area... On Saturday morning, they spent a few hours to pack up and then went to try "cupping" while Suz, Pam and I had coffee and custard tarts together. I ordered a van for Suz and her kids and then I drove Pam and Hailey to the airport!  We had so much fun!

Alan took off down south for his four day basketball tournament. I have two services tomorrow... And I know that the week is going to be a busy one. Please do remember us in your prayers. Isaiah has his final exams... Abby is getting ready for her retreat! And we are counting down to going back to the States...
