Yes, Yes, Yes...

I am getting the swing of things...

While Mom is at the Praise Dance, I ran for 30 minutes and then ran errands! I got back three minutes late... The class had ended and Mom was ready to go...

I decided that every Monday after Praise Dance, I'd make it my grocery shopping day! So, today, we headed out to Carrefour!

We had lunch at home and then Mom's afternoon routine -- massage chair, shower, writing journal, and yes, one episode of Little House! I did housework...

I went on line and bought coupons for a fancy afternoon tea at the Grand Mayfull Hotel for Abby's graduation celebration!

I called and set up an appointment to have my hair perm! Yes, it's true... I got a coupon... Wednesday, while Mom is at her morning church event, I will go. It usually takes about two to three hours... Alan said he can pick up my mom... YIPPY!

I worked on my talk for this Sunday... and hopefully will email it out by Wednesday!

May Is Almost Here!

It's hard to believe that May is almost here...

We made an appointment at the DMV for Abby's scooter test... We wanted her to go tomorrow or Tuesday, but she wants to hang out with her friends... So, we sat her down and got her to commit -- May 19th, Saturday!

We took Mom to the newcomers coffee time this morning... It was quite fun! Of course, she enjoyed it because of the FOOD!

At House of Praise, the people are so nice... making her feel welcome, greeting her and helping her with things... including giving her snacks! And of course, we have dinner together at church every Sunday and the food is always different, which Mom loves! Tonight, one sister gave us a whole box of lutein packets... good for Mom's eyes!

I had to translate for the speaker today... and next week, I will start on the new series...

Yes... Two Starts!

I ran for an hour... with new running shoes that I bought in January, hoping to use them for the ultra, which I never joined... due to unforeseen events... I got blisters... I wore the wrong kind of socks...

And another start is Abby -- in the afternoon, while I went for a run, Alan worked on Abby's scooter skill... she's progressing quite nicely! I was hoping to take her on Monday, but Alan said, "She's not yet ready!" Abby said, "I have to first pass the written exam!"

As for my mom... her bad habits continue... We are beginning to see that it might just be a part of her mental functions... but what's disturbing is that when Abby is standing right there, telling her NOT to do certain things, she is NOT willing to obey... That can't be because of her forgetfulness????

Overall, we, as a family, believe that it is best for my mom to live in Taiwan. We can't see her living with Annie and KR... and we don't want her to live on her own with helpers... I know many are praying for us... and that sure is encouraging!

Starting To Run

I've decided to go for short 30 minute run when my mom is at her praise dance class... So, that's what I did today...

I'm going to try to do this even when it's hot...

Today... was relatively nice...

I did a big lap around the church where she was at... 30 minutes!

I got back and warm down with the praise dance ladies... It felt good to at least get a 30 minute run in!

Tomorrow... I am going to try to go for an hour run...

We will see...

Abby's First Acceptance

Isaiah sent a message on our family LINE group... It was for Abby's first college acceptance!

She got into FuJen University, Family and Children's Counseling Department! And she was NUMBER 1! That meant she did so well that after all the scores were added up, she received the overall highest score. The scores included her JCEE, her portfolio and her interview. We are very proud of her and she was happy.

Now, even though this is not her first choice, it felt good that she was Number One!  We are now waiting on the rest, which won't be posted until May 3rd.

But this does mean she can take Monday and Tuesday off! Yippy!

Tuesday is a holiday for Alan and Isaiah... and now, she can also have the day off... Maybe we will all go and have breakfast out somewhere... for FUN!

I'm pressuring her to get her scooter license... She now has to take three sample scooter tests every evening until she can consistently score 85 or above! Right now... she has only gotten ONE 87!

We were hoping to take her to the park this weekend to practice and then on Monday bring her to the DMV! She can use my scooter to take the test AFTER she passes the written exam! I will keep you posted!

Great Weather... if I Only Had the Time...

Today was just the most perfect kind of weather for a run... but i had no time...

It was another productive day...

Mom enjoyed her morning program at the church.

Alan and I actually had time to hang out... even for a couple of hours!

I made a massage appointment for Mom... and she really enjoyed the oil massage!

While she was there, I went shopping for new clothes for her! Her shirts are all too tight... and she needed some summer PJs.

Praise the Lord... every item I bought fit her perfectly!

I rushed off to tutor... while Alan 'watched' my mom...

She went to bed by the time I got home at 7:45?!?!?!

Ahhhh... she was feeling tired... I was quite puzzled!

As you know, I had taken all the medication out... Now, I'm introducing one that Annie said would be good for her 'mind' -- donepezil (aricept). I think this pill is not good for her... I don't see a mark improvement in her memory... at least not yet. But I am seeing a decline in her alertness... Well... I guess this means that I can sleep more... but on the other hand, I think she has constipation again... I will monitor... but I think I will stop this medication... see if her alertness returns!

Thank you all for your prayer support... I need it!

A "Good" Day!

I must say -- today was a good day!

I dropped Mom off at the church activity with specific and clear instructions... telling her that I will pick her up at 12:30.

I sped home and got things ready for my Bible study group... Yes, I had already made the salad and the Mexican dish, plus two different kinds of dressing and dip... One sister brought over fruit... Another sister brought over the dessert... We had an awesome time, studying the book of Revelations and sharing prayer and praise report!

I continued with my liquid fast, blending cucumber and apple cider vinegar and other ingredients. (I broke my fast tonight as my sweet daughter bought me my favorite congee as she knew my tummy wasn't feeling well... Chinese congee always helps...)

I dashed back to pick up my mom. Those in her group helped her to stay focused...

When I went back home, the gals were still around. YEAH!

I cleaned up and I took Mom out to see a house a dear brother in our church bought. I had no idea Neihu homes are so expensive!

For the rest of the afternoon, I let her watch ONE Little House and we were out to pick up Abby.

After dinner, since it was raining, she just walked around the house and did her nightly routine before headed off to bed!

Oh... tutoring canceled... That was an added bonus... So, I didn't have to worry about who was to going to be home to stay with my mom...

Overall, it was truly a Good God day!

Cleansing My System

The Lord is ABLE!

I woke up feeling somewhat normal... but decided to put myself on a liquid fast...

I wasn't feeling hungry anyhow...

Since I am having my Bible study sisters over tomorrow, I decided to take out the meat and make Mexican food... I did a pot of ground beef and a pot of chicken... By the time I finished, I had two huge pans of Mexican food...

I also did a load of laundry and thoroughly steam cleaned our floor...

This is along with keeping my mom 'entertained'... and going to Costco for groceries!

I must confess... I did give her TWO episodes of Little House!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Without commercials that was an hour and a half! I think I'll do that again tomorrow!

And I'm sleeping early tonight...

I think I will continue with the liquid fast... It has really helped to 'clean out my system'!

Oh... my daughter also blessed me with a nice shoulder rub when she came home from school...

How extremely blessed I am!
