Typhoon Day!

What a blessing to have a typhoon day!

We heard last night at 10pm that the government decided to make today a "Typhoon Day". That meant that school, work... ALL CANCELLED!

I was going to go with Kurtis to the visa office, but we can to postpone that...

In the morning, it didn't look like a typhoon day... so i went out for a run... It was so nice!

The kids were able to sleep in and that was a big blessing for Isaiah as he was feeling ill!

Abby had so many busy days that it was so nice for her to just sleep until 11am.

We then went out to get her passport pictures done... and buy milk. The supermarket was packed with people.

Mom watched Little House ... and she was happy to just sit and watch!

We were planning to go out to dinner, but the rain started... and we just decided to stay home.

I worked on organizing our scrap paper pile. Abby was finishing up some Econ homework. Alan went on line in search of speakers for our PC.

What a blessed day of rest!

What A Day!

Today we ended our series on the Fruit of the Spirit!

What a great service!

The day went by so quickly.

Annie had a nice conversation with Mom while I ran errands. I had books to pick up at the library and at 7/11, plus Alan kept asking me to find next year's calendar for his date book. They finally came in!

We didn't have Love Feast, so we were going out to a steakhouse, but the line was too long! So we went to a beef noodle place instead!

Another Rainy Day...

The down pour has continued...

I tutored this morning and Mom was up early... She was dressed by 7am!

This afternoon I took Mom for a massage... she again really enjoyed it.

We bought a bucket of "Uncle Sam" fried chicken. And yes, Mom loved it...

This evening we had our family time...

Oh... Happy Teacher's Day!

Raining Day & Planning Date!

The weather report didn't forecast rain like what we've had today -- a total consistent down pour!

Alan and I went out to lunch... and we were soaking wet by the time we got the restaurant. The food was great... as I bought coupons...

In fact, Alan wanted me to start buying gifts for his two trips. One in November to Shanghai and one in December to Japan! So, I was cruising on the 'groupon' like web site... and of course, found all kinds of interesting restaurants to try... and combed through tons of gift possibilities! I am also looking for something for Children's Day...

In the morning I also talked with Annie, trying to firm up our plans for Chinese New Year!

So, this was what Alan and I decided.

We are going skiing from January 25th to the 31st! Just the four of us... plus church friends! If Annie and KR aren't coming on the 25th, I have a list of residential places recommended by the Elderly Care Center that Mom can stay at for those seven days! The rates are very reasonable. I will have to call each place and visit before I decide which one would be best!

If Annie and KR do come, they can stay at our house, use our car and maybe do a tour of Taiwan with Mom and Kurtis! Then when we get back on the 31st, we will do a few more fun things before they leave to go back to the State on February 1st, 2nd or 3rd. With their 'farm and pets', they can't be gone too long! Ten to 14 days would be the maximum! Annie is still 'spinning' so she can't do much. Skiing would not be fun for her!

Mom's elderly program starts back on the 4th of February, but school doesn't start until February 17th. Kurtis has class from February 3 to the 17th and he will get another break from February 18 to February 23rd! His Spring Quarter will be from February 24th to May 15th! By the end of that quarter he might come to a decision regarding coming back to Taipei in September or not to study at Soochow University and perhaps get his degree here! It sure is cheaper... and he'll get a good education!

Those are the things we decided... and we've asked our friends to book for Chinese New Year. Now we will have to start looking at summer!!!!

Free Afternoon... Sort of...

The NSB class cancelled for this afternoon as they had a special event... I don't have any details...

So... it was great... as I always have plenty to do!

I went to the bank and to the supermarket... and cook dinner... and went for my quick run...

I also started to clean out my linen closets/storage areas as we have friends returning to Taipei who need a few items. I also put away two fans as the weather is cooling down... I love this time of the year!

Another thing that I'm working on is our winter vacation trip! Too many variables... Are Annie and KR coming? Will Kurtis join us? Who will take care of Mom? How many days can we take? Where should we go? What's the budget for this year's trip?

I will keep you posted!

From Teaching to Tutoring...

I had a sense of what the next few weeks will be like... as I had to go from teaching at NSB to tutoring...

I had so many things to carry...

And I know that I better get a good night's rest or I'm not going to last...

God sustained me...

For the next four weeks, every Tuesdays and Wednesdays, will be very very busy!

Double Bible Study...

I had two Bible studies today... and the day again flew by...

After the morning study finished, I rushed to the library and the supermarket... then went for a quick run.

I was off to tutor...

When I finished at 6:30, I was off to my second evening study!

So many things to do... I was going to put away the fans and do some chores... but I think I'll have to wait until Thursday!

A Blessed Day of Sabbath Rest!

Mom Bea reads my blog posts... and she prays for us... She also told me to rest more...

And since my body was feeling way too depleted... My back was suffering from a herniated disc! That's always a reminder from God to SLOW DOWN... I had a huge canker sore... and I was feeling generally tired... and my tummy was a bit 'off'...

So... today, I called the blind masseuse and made an appointment for a 90 minute massage.

I let myself take a morning nap... 60 minutes...

And I went for my usual 30 minute run!

On top of the 'rest', I took two fizzy vitamin Cs...

I am feeling better...

Wish I could do the same tomorrow... but no can do! But today's sabbath rest was such a blessing!

Two Messages Sunday!

I always enjoy going to the Chinese morning church to speak... It's difficult to prepare the message, but the Lord always lays something new upon my heart...

This afternoon, I did the final message on the fruit of the Spirit, Love. Next week will be the conclusion/summary!

Kurtis came to the service and we had sushi boxes for dinner...

By the time we got home, Mom was tired and went to bed by 8:30. I spent the rest of the evening finishing up a few tasks...

This week looks like another busy one... so what else is new...

The weather today was beautiful! A perfect fall day...
