Two from Luke

My messages today both came from Luke.

Luke 8:22-25 and Luke 18: 1-8.

Jesus calms the storm & the Persistent Widow.

For the Persistent Widow, the contrast of how persistent this widow was really hit me.  She knew the judge to be one who did not fear God or men as they were from the same town, and yet, she kept asking him for protection. The parable does not tell how long she kept asking. That's the beauty of the parable. But for a man who did not fear God or men, it must have taken a long time.

For Jesus calms the storm, it struck me that the All Knowing Son of God as stated in verse 22 knew that there would be a storm, and yet he invited the disciples to go to the other side. Coupled that with the All Knowing Son of Man who fell asleep, God showed me that He totally understands exhaustion, being able to fall asleep on a small boat with 12 other people.

The Lord taught me so much through these two familiar passages. That's the beauty of God's word. And that's why I so enjoyed speaking and sharing!

Paper Shredding!

Image result for Psalm 14: 6
I bought a great paper shredder from the States for less than 4$ tax included! Yes, of course, at the Salvation Army!

And today, I proceeded to clean -- no the files, but the cabinet that had letters and things (I had no idea what was really down there!)  I found 10 books of checks which I had to shred. I don't know what else I shredded, but I now have an entire black plastic trash bag filled with shredded paper. Where did all that come from?

I also went to get my 50cc scooter tuned up.

Isaiah didn't have Math cram school this afternoon, so we met up at McDonald's for lunch and went shopping. He bought a few things.

Then we were home for the rest of the afternoon which gave me time to finish sorting through the stuff I pulled out from the cabinet in our study.

All in all, it was a great day. And that paper shredder was put to use more than the money I spent on it!

Not Giving Up

I spend this day going through the files... at least some of the files. I've got them sorted into four major groups -- kids stuff, school stuff, ministry stuff and misc. I went through two files of ministry stuff and updated things that I had handwritten and threw the paper away.  A very small dent in the overall pile of things. The hardest piles are the misc and the kids stuff. For the school stuff, I found old folders and got those put into some sort of order. As for the lesson planning books, I have not made a decision yet. I'm not going to pull anything out again until next week. Eight hours worth of sorting drained me!

I went for a bike ride and run this evening.

It was cooler only because the sun wasn't beating down on me. It felt good to be out at the River Park!

Stopped!

Well, I haven't stopped... it's just going very slowly.

I did not get through one box! I have to make a decision! Just throw 20 years of lesson planning books out or else, input all the ideas into the computer, then throw out the books!  Right now... as it is so hot here, I'm opting for the first idea!

Tomorrow, I'll start again... What will I do???

Started!

Today I've started on the files. I didn't get very far before I emailed a dear friend for some advice! Pam has just finished cleaning her parents' house! I felt overwhelmed with just one box of paper stuff. I couldn't imagine trying to go through 10 boxes worth of files! The main reason why I needed help was I didn't get rid of much! From one box, I threw away one small folder worth of students' grades! That's it!

I hope I can do a bit more tomorrow. I still have one box on our dining room table. The rest is back in the study. I had pulled everything out. But it was too overwhelming to look at. So, I put everything back and just kept one box on the table. That box alone might take a week!

No Rain In Sight!

Isaiah has morning classes for a month, so no practice in the morning. He is so happy as the weather has been extremely hot. In fact, we looked at what weather was like in the States and what a difference. It's like 21 degrees and it's 37 here!  AHHHHH..

I rode my bike to teach this afternoon. And even though it was only 15 minutes to get there, I was pouring out in sweat when I got there. Needless to say, I did not go for a run or any other exercise outdoors.

I am even contemplating going to the indoor workout place this week and run on a treadmill. Yes, it's true. I have nine more coupons to use up. This summer might be the time to use them up. And Isaiah informed me that there is no rain until next Tuesday!

Such A Perfect Monday

I haven't had a Monday like today for a long time. I didn't have to rush anywhere, even though I had a lot to get done.

I drove to drop off Isaiah as I needed to use the car at least once a week. Then I picked up donation and did a few errands. Getting back home, I got busy with catching up on emails and tidying up. I also spent quite a bit of time on the computer, looking for the last few gifts on the internet. I left at 12noon to get things copied for my class tomorrow and I went to the Christian bookstore to buy the book as they would give me a bigger discount with my 'membership' card. I also went to Carrefour as they always have some imported goods on sale. I have also been looking for a mop. I can't seem to find one that works well. I don't want one that needs a special bucket to ring it dry. I don't want to keep using disposable wet ones. I don't want one that I have to ring dry by hand. The picking is slim! I did find lots of great stuff including this peach syrup. It was 5US$ on sale for 2US$!

I went for a run in the afternoon even though it was extremely hot. I drank a lot of water upon coming back home.

The rest of the evening was relaxing with Isaiah at home. I do need to start preparing for the two messages this Sunday, but not today!
