I'm Leaving On A Jet Plane

I wanted to take a picture of the 6 boxes and 2 suitcases that we will be bringing back to Taiwan in two days. Each item has been carefully balanced and weighed so that they are all almost exactly 23 kilos. It has taken me quite a long time to get this done. At one point, Annie's living room floor was completely filled with cereal boxes, cake mixes, books, clothes, shoes, and the list goes on. I was wondering if the task was ever going to get done. But now I can enjoy the last two days and feel a bit more relaxed. The next major project would be to UNPACK everything once we arrive back in Taipei. Oh, what I have to look forward to!

MORE FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT!

Best Friends

Every summer for the past 7 years we have been making our usual trek to the States to see our families and friends. I enjoy many things about the time we spend in the States. I love seeing how my kids connect with their cousins. Even though they have not seen each other much during the year, they are best buddies instantaneously. They are out at the beach, in a park, or just hanging out at home. It doesn't matter much what they do, they just like to do things together. I love seeing my husband enjoy his "food" -- all the greasy burger joints and all the desserts he devours and all the ball games he gets to watch. I love seeing my sister and knowing that she loves having us around. I might be over at my mom's helping out or cleaning another garage or going through the massive amount of "things" that she has been saving up for me -- it is just FUN. One other thing that I love is the chance to see my best friends. I appreciate how they take the time to get together with me. We have taken many road trips -- one time we went up to San Francisco, another time we droe to Palm Springs (the hotel deals in the summer can't be beat). This summer, Suz and Pam (Corenne now lives in New Jersey and could not make it) drove down to San Diego and picked me up in Chula Vista. We drove 10 minutes more and arrived at our destination of -- National City. Yes, it was only 10 minutes away from Alan's parents' home, but it was a great "get - away". We dined at different fine restaurants, we walked around and talked, we watched TV. The time is always way too short. But I know that even when we are apart, they would be praying for me. God does know best. I believe that and especially when I see them. Because only God can knit our hearts together by bringing us to meet half way around the world in the foreign country of Germany, in a quaint town of Heidelberg, some 30 years ago. We have talked about it and I am already looking forward to it -- a cruise together when we are "older". It won't matter where we go or what cruise ship we're on, I know that we will have a blast! Why? Because when you are with your best friends, you will always have a GRAND YBNormal time!

It Can't Be August!

Picture Summary --

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I thought 8,000 words would be enough to help capture what we've been doing.
Meeting old friends at the Taoyuan International Airport
Upacking all the goodies I brought for everyone
Going to Yosemite with my sister, Annie, and her family
Rowing on a small raft, trying to get everyone on board (Alan swimming towards the boat, Tyler hanging on to the side, I was taking the picture!)
Eating out with EVERYONE -- Eddie and his family arrived in Torrance the day we got back from Yosemite
Getting together with Nancy, Serge and their five kids, Jamie, Daniel and their three kids -- Oh, how the moments flew by way too quickly
Horseback riding for Abby -- She wants to go for a much longer ride next time
Walking around at the Lemon Festival in Chula Vista and Isaiah decided to join the Marie Callendar's Lemon Meringue Pie Eating Contest. He actually won third place, which means he gets a gift certificate for Marie Callendar's.
Those are some of the highlights. There are more, much more...
