Prayer Walk & Answer Prayer

This was a long day.

We left early to go to New Beitou Baptist Church as I shared briefly before going out for our prayer walk. The weather was so hot.  We were out there for about 40 minutes.

Then we headed out to BaiShaWan as Tom and his kids were getting baptized. (Jacqueline also decided to join them as she never was immersed.) We have been praying for Tom. It was an amazing time of worship at the beach.

We got back by 7:45 and had to clean everything.

I had cooked dinner already.

Tomorrow morning I leave for the States... I am going to sleep well tonight!

All Packed

What a busy day!

I bought a few more things but it turned out that both my check-ins were overweight. So, I had to repack and leave some things for Alan and Abby to take. I knew that would happen.

It was a hot day and Alan had to weigh both pieces several times as I wanted to get it just right.

I then also cooked food to put in the frig. And speaking of the frig, I reorganized it so that Alan can see what there is. I am hoping that he won't go and spend too much money eating out and buying more things. I cooked a Mexican dish and then made the left over ground beef to freeze so that he can take it out and make it as spaghetti sauce or topping for the pizzas.

This evening we had Family Time as we haven't had the time together as a family. We shared and prayed together and went over the schedule for the next two weeks while I'm gone.

I then did a load of laundry, making sure both the kids and Alan knew how to operate it. (I found out from Abby that while I was away these past few times, Alan never hung up the clothes. He just stuffed everything into the dryer!!!!!!!!!!!! He could have ruined the dryer as our washer is a 15 kilos load but our dryer is only 9 kilos. I always hang up the clothing items and dry only the socks and underwear or the towels. I'm so glad Abby said something. So, I made sure he now knows!)

Tomorrow is a full day of ministry! I'll blog about it tomorrow night!

Such A Waste

Today Alan and I went to Costco. I had to return a watch we bought for Isaiah as he still likes using his old one.

What was so terrible was that the return line was like at Disneyland because people were returning Quaker Oats because one of the stations here reported that there is a trace of chemicals in the oats. Totally ridiculous!

To get any negative effects, a 60 kilo man would have to eat 10 kilos of this oat a day! Otherwise, no problem as long as you drink plenty of water.

So, there were at least 150 boxes already returned, which they will just throw away!

WHAT A WASTE!

Another customer and I who were waiting in line to return something totally unrelated were so disgusted about the waste.

I bought lots of the oats to make oatmeal raisin cookies and Alan eats oatmeal for breakfast about two times a week. I am not going to return all my boxes... NO WAY.

I was there at 1pm. By this evening, they must have at least 300 boxes returned!

Famine is not caused by lack of food. It's caused by wastefulness.

Shopping & Packing

I had fun looking for all the goodies to bring back to the States.

I guess since it was the presidential inauguration, many of the stores were highlighting local products. The selections were great and the prices weren't that bad.  Pineapple cakes, sun cakes, mango cakes... the list goes on.

I'm buying things for my sister as well as for the reunion that I'll be going to. I wanted to buy some snacks and package drinks to share with others.

I have three more days and a lot more stores to go to.

And I'm not worried about not having the room for what I'm buying as Alan and Abby are both going back in July. So, whatever I can't fit this time, they can bring next time. YIPPY!!!

Biking at 1am and Taking Newborn Out

This morning at 1am, I biked to church as it was the 50-hour of continuous prayer time. Last year I went at this time as there weren't that many people who signed up for that block of time. So this year, after prayer, I felt as if the Lord wanted me to go again at the same block of time.

I left the house at 12:50 and got to the church by 1:10. Only the pastor and his wife were there. For two hours, the three of us worshipped and prayed. I totally enjoyed the time together.

I left the church at 3:16 and got home by 3:36. Absolutely NO TRAFFIC. I didn't see a single bus. The weather was actually quite warm.  I thought, I should do this more often!

I got up at 6:30 to say good bye to the kids as they were going off to school and I slept for two more hours.

This afternoon, I took Ariel's newborn baby, Caleb, out for a walk. It was so much fun.  We just went to the local supermarket and back. I hope he sleeps well tonight as he could not stay awake in the stroller.  Ariel also went out with us. Unlike Caleb, she is going to be exhausted and will sleep very well tonight!

The Benefits of Living in Taipei

I bike to work now. And these past few weeks I've again thought about the benefits of living in Taipei.

I love how compact this city is.

I love how convenient it is to get around this city.

I love how safe I feel as I can go run at the park at all hours of the day or night.

I love how inexpensive the food is and the variety of food I can get!

I guess I'm thinking of this especially since I'll be going to the States for two weeks. Then I'll have to drive... YIKES... and I won't be able to go running at night. (I think I'll just do treadmill works in the exercise room at my mom's senior complex!) Plus, I won't have delicious Chinese food!

I will love the weather in Southern California and that's one thing I don't enjoy about being in Taipei.

Last Sunday of Preaching at HOP

Today I finished the message that I started some five months ago on January 17th, Promised Fulfilled. I felt that the Lord wanted me to talk and answer some difficult questions that needed to be addressed. I spent hours on this message. Praying and asking God to help me. How to make sense of all the bits and pieces???

God is so faithful. I enjoyed interacting with God's word and have the Holy Spirit to guide and teach me. I always learn so much from each message.

It's my last Sunday of preaching at HOP as the pastoral couple has returned from their sabbatical. All I'm scheduled for will be to lead the Prayer Walks that are scheduled in July, September and December.

The talk was videotaped, so I hope to post it on our blog at a later post.

Another fun thing that happened was we had several newcomers, including a man we met at Costco. He really came!

Kids Are Growing Up

We are realizing that the kids are growing up...

On Friday nights they both have to go to cram school. And today...

Abby had cram school in the morning and then an activity with her school fellowship. She is going to be the vice chairperson starting this coming school year. In the evening, she didn't want to join us. Instead, she went to the library.

Isaiah had practice this morning and then cram school in the afternoon. This evening, a bunch of his friends met up at the local school gym and played basketball. Since it's an indoor gym, each kid had to pay about 3US$. He also didn't want to join us.

So, Alan and I went to the Memorial Celebration for Sherry's dad. He passed away back in January and they didn't have the chance to just have a few friends over to share.

I realize that more and more they will have their own activity.  I can't imagine what it will be like when Isaiah gets his scooter license.

And for me, I keep thinking that perhaps I would have more free time... but actually, I'm just as busy.
