Abby Is Back!

Abby came back from her graduation trip, completely exhausted!

She had a great time. We didn't hear all the stories because right after our family devotional time, she went straight to bed. She didn't even unpack or brush her teeth!

I think she's going to sleep for an entire day in order to really get well rested!

It's so nice to have her home...

Isaiah Passed!

See his smile? Do you know what it means?

Isaiah got his scooter license!

I would have let him ride home but... they now have a new rule... before you can pick up your scooter license, you MUST attend a 90 minute class.

By the time we finished the physical (4US$), and the written test (4US$) and the course test (4US$), it was already 4:40. The last class started at 3:30! So, we will have to go back some time next week in order for him to go through the class and pick up his license (7US$). He had to miss practice this afternoon in order for us to go to the DMV together!

Isaiah passed the written test by ONE point. He got a few points deducted on the course test (because he had to put his feet down)... but he passed! So many people were in line and so many DID NOT passed!

We will take him out to the river park to practice a bit more before we let him ride on the roads... but soon, he can go and 'run' some errands for me... like scooter over to Carrefour and pick up some milk... YIPPY!

Isaiah Got In!

No, he didn't get into Soochow, but he got into National Chung Cheng University in JiaYi. (JiaYi is near Ali Mountain, just below Taichung, which is in the middle of Taiwan.) His acceptance was from the all day tennis tournament on 3/18!

National Chung Cheng University was Isaiah's second choice. This school is out in the middle of nowhere! He would have to play on their school tennis team... but he does not have to major in a PE related field. In fact, he got into their Foreign Language Department. It is a National school, which is usually very difficult to get into... and the tuition per semester would be about 850US$! (Not including room and board and books and other expenses)

Now, Isaiah's first choice is still Soochow University, English Department.

Tomorrow... he goes for his scooter test!

I will keep you posted!

Oh, and for his first section tests, he ranked first in his class! Abby also did fairly well... except she forgot to mark her computer card and got deducted 10 points on her English exam!

Annual Family Portraits!

Since the weather was so nice, I decided to bike down to the photo studio to pick up our annual family portraits!

This year's theme: Miracles
This year's verse: Luke 1:37

This year's clothing idea: Sweatshirts
And since this year is our 30th wedding anniversary and Isaiah's high school graduation, we splurged and got five pictures!

Spring Break Around the Corner!

Yes, it's true...

Alan will start his break on Wednesday of this week.

And as I've posted earlier, Abby will be off on her graduation trip.

So, I called coach today and asked for a day off for Isaiah so that we can take him to get his scooter license. We're going to do it on Thursday!

YES... and we will let Isaiah ride back home with Alan and I following along!

We are already praying... Please remember to pray. If he doesn't get in on the first try, he gets a second chance! You pay one price and you get two chances. If you fail both, then you have to wait another week to try again!

On another note, Isaiah had his mock college interview today. All the teachers were very impressed with his answers and his portfolio.  Not looking at the English test that he has to take at Soochow, just basing it on his portfolio and answers during today's practice session, they all think he should have no problem getting into Soochow University! That was a big encouragement for all of us to hear!

Double Services Sunday!

Today was the fourth Sunday of the month and I went to speak at the morning Chinese service. My passage was from Luke 2:1-20. Yes, it's the typical Christmas passage. I brought the manger and focused on the shepherds.

The church has grown. There were about 20 people ... and after the service they have a love feast. The food was fabulous and they fixed up the church so nicely. It's amazing!

Isaiah took the TOEIC test and he said it was easy... but he didn't get the perfect score as there were at least three questions that he thought he missed. Well... if he only got three wrong, I'd be very happy!

Abby and Alan went and played tennis but the rain came... so they didn't have much time to play.

We went to HOP in the afternoon... and it was a prayer ministry time.

Love Feast was fantastic...

We ended the day with our family devotional time!

Nice Short Run on A Rainy Day

Yes, it's true.

The weather changed yet again and it turned cold and rainy. (Which is actually my favorite kind of weather.)

Alan's tennis tournament got cancelled as they saw that this weekend's weather was going to turn 'bad'. So, he will be able to take Isaiah to the TOEIC test and I won't have to rush around since I'm speaking at the morning Chinese church.

Ok... back to my day...

I tutored this morning and then rushed home to get the house and food ready for our couples group this evening. At 4:20, things were fairly done, so I went out for a short run -- 8kms only! I wish I had more time because the weather was so great (by my definition of the perfect running weather!)

We had three couples come for Core... so it was fantastic. For dinner, we had hot dogs, veggie sticks, chips, veggie soup, sweet red bean soup and salad and fruit! Of course, there was dessert -- ice cream with caramel or fudge topping and sweet mint chocolate cookies! Fabulous! For the presentation, we had the couples do a marriage check-up and then together, we watched a 30 minute segment of JOYCE MEYER (can you believe it?) about choices we make. We ended by praying together.

Isaiah stayed in his room and 'studied' during the presentation. Abby was gone all day!

Tonight we finished Day 34 of the 40 Day Prayer Challenge!
