Three Services

Yes, I had three services today. Each one was very different.

New Beitou Baptist Church was a prayer walk. The miracle -- no rain!

Funeral Home was to sing a song, Coming Home. The miracle -- being able to sing about Jesus at a Buddhist funeral service.

House of Praise was to translate for the speaker. The miracle -- we got there before the service started.

On the way out the door this afternoon to go to the funeral home, Alan called. I haven't seen his sweet face for ages... okay, maybe just eight days, but it feels like ages. I didn't have time to talk to him. WAHHHHHHHH... I hope he calls again. (Mom Bea, if you happen to read this blog, tell Alan to skype me again.)

A Day of Rest

Image result for psalm 135: 3
My tutoring today got cancelled as it was a make-up work day! Yes, we have those here in Taiwan. So, Isaiah had a full day of practice (the coach was nice and let them finish early. So he was home by 5:30.) Abby was at her Christian retreat, which finished at 5 (she didn't get home until 7pm.)

I had a relatively free day.

And since I was feeling quite fatigue, I took the time to rest. I mean -- really rest!

(I like this verse, Psalm 135:3, so much that I decided to post it twice!)

One Thing After Another

Today was a very wet chilly day... I was out all day, going from one thing to another.

Dropped Isaiah off.

Tutored from 9-10:30 and then had another student from 11-12:15.

Went to church to get a temporary parking permit and then dropping that off.

Cancelled one of my credit cards that I rarely use. I do need to get another credit card as by April 1st, Costco will only use a credit card from Cathay Bank!

Came home to change clothes as my jeans were soaking wet even though I had on a raincoat.

Headed out to pray with a sister and meet up with David for 'afternoon tea'.

Went to pick up Isaiah in the downpour. He was running late. So I went home and got the car.

A student came by to drop off a Chinese New Year gift. In fact, I received several gifts today from different students -- organic guavas, a red envelope, a box of cooking sauces, a box of almond cookies, a box of pound cake and a box of sun cakes from Taichung!

I was so filled with gratitude at how God lavished so many gifts on me all in one day, especially on an extremely wet and cold day of scootering around. I wanted to go for a long walk or a short run or even to have time to take a nap. I didn't get to do any of that... but I felt very blessed... God walked with me all throughout this day, shepherding and leading me.

A Break from the Norm

Without Abby and Alan home, I have had a lot of leftover. Isaiah also isn't home for lunch and dinner. And I find that I don't eat as much as I used to.

So, today, I brought lunch down to a friend's place.  We had a great meal.

It's still wet and cold, so after hanging out, I got home and tried to get caught up on things. And instead of going to run errands, I took time to rest at home. It was quite nice.

I didn't even go for a long walk or a short run. I just rested at home.

The Movie, War Room

Early this morning, I dropped Abby off at the MRT Station as she was headed to her winter youth camp.  She had packed last night. It was difficult to say good bye to her... I won't see her until Saturday afternoon.

I went home and picked up Isaiah and dropped him off as he again had practice.

I hung up the clothes to dry and headed off to tutor.

After tutoring, I rushed home to get lunch ready. I had invite someone over as she had asked me to do a series of training workshops for college/university teachers. We were going to go out to eat, but I had so much leftovers that I asked her to have lunch at my house to help me clear my frig. She wasn't a big eater, so we barely made a dent in the food!

We walked down as I had told Vanessa that I'd come over to watch the movie, War Room.

I enjoyed the movie as it was about prayer. That's a topic close to my heart. I am also interested in watching the special features of the interview they had with Molly Bruno, a woman who loves to pray.  A few comments really struck me -- When Molly, who is 91 years old, was asked about dying, she said that she was looking forward to it as she wants to give Jesus a hug. I totally can relate. Another comment was about how God calls or beckons to pray and to spend time with him. I can also totally relate. I might be tired in the morning, but I really can't live the day without spending time with Him. Finally, she quoted Matthew 6:33...

Warming Up

The sun came out today! What a difference it made to the temperature!

I tutored and came home just to call my mom before I headed out again.

I met up with my dear friend, Angel Lin, who was heading back to the States. She had things that I will give to my sister, Annie, to bring back to the States.

Knowing that she had quite a bit of stuff, I rode Alan's scooter. After a quick lunch with her, I carted TWO humongous bags of things on the scooter. I had bags hanging off everywhere! I made sure I rode very slowly as on the way to her hotel, I witnessed TWO accidents, which happened right in front of me. Both accidents were careless and needless. Maybe one of the drivers had his eyes on his cell phone and not on the road.

I had no time to go back home as I was to go over and pray at a sister's house. She just moved in and even though it's been almost six months, she still feels uneasy in this apartment. She prepared so many snacks for us. I just saw such a wonderful vision of their house becoming a place of hosting small groups and other church related activities.

At 4:20, I rushed home as I had told Abby I'd take her over to church. She had spent the day leisurely reading!

After getting back, I spent the evening putting things away, checking my email and taking time to rest. Instead of going for a run, I decided just to go out for a quick walk. There was too much to do at home.

Running Out in the Cold

I decided that it was time to go out for a run. It's been weeks... maybe months since I've gone for a run.

With such low temperature, I went in 6 layers of clothes. YES... thermal top, sweatshirt, sweater, jackets, earmuffs... you get the idea!

Of course, I got very hot... but it was nice to be toasty warm!

After getting back, I had a nice hot shower and ate dinner. The kids were serving at the evening kids' program, so I had a nice evening at home, wrapped in a thick warm blanket, and I spent the time reading!

The two hours went by fast quickly. Soon, the phone rang. Time to pick up the kids!

Snowing in Taipei

Yes, it's true... There is snow up on YangMing Mountain. There is even snow on the small hill behind our old house.

People were bundled up in layers and layers of clothes.

I enjoy this cold weather. But it is really cold. My teeth hurt from the cold weather.

The kids and I stayed in all morning.  Finally, at 2 in the afternoon, we headed out to church.

The kids went to serve as counselors for the Angel's Kids' Camp. I went to House of Praise.

And after church this evening, I finally had time to upload pictures. Hope you enjoyed seeing what it's like in Taiwan for the Joint Entrance College Exam. It's very intense and the results will be sent by 2/18.
