Christmas Newsletter, Part II

Alan's Highlights

As I look back over this year it has been a very eventful year. During Chinese New Year, I went back to the US to see family and help to watch over things in Torrance while Annie & Karl went off to Australia and met up with Lovely, Isaiah and Abigail and Eddie's family. The next big event was Soochow University hosting the Speech and Debate Competition with the top universities from Taiwan and Shanghai.  I was in charge of that event. It was a great experience and provided an opportunity for me to share Christ's love with the team of students from Soochow.  Another highlight was the cruise this summer with my brother's family, my mom and Isaiah. We went down to Mexico for a week. It was fantastic to relax and feast for seven days! After the cruise, two groups of seniors from Soochow visited the States. They spent time up in Torrance and in San Diego. They had a marvelous time. In fact, it was a highlight of their trip to just hang out with the family. In November, I had a 'surprise' trip to Miyasaki, Japan as I took four students on a special English camp sponsored by a Japanese university. The last highlight of 2017 is to have Isaiah at Soochow. I love seeing him on campus. He is also on the English Department Basketball Team. And in case you didn't know, I coach that team. So, it has been fun to be his 'coach'. We have had a lot of fun together, including going to Ilan for the big basketball tournament. God has really been doing a lot this year. And one of the biggest things is how God has made me a second "Dad" to many of my students. I am encouraged to be used by God to be a representative of the love of our Heavenly Father. Perhaps He has a harvest coming to Soochow University. Abby will be taking the Joint College Entrance Exam in January of 2018. Perhaps I will have another kid at Soochow by the fall of 2018!
The verse I'd like to choose for 2018 is Eph. 6:19 --
