Back to School Day and Other Activities

Early this morning, Alan and I were off to attend the Back to School Day at Nanhu Senior High. Abby rode the bike to her cram school and Isaiah took the MRT. The gym was quite packed by the time we got there. The first part was the principal giving the usual 'speil' and then we were dismissed to the classrooms of our kids. I went first to talk with Isaiah's homeroom teacher while Alan went to Abby's classroom.

Only four parents responded from Isaiah's PE class so the teacher just invited us to speak to her individually.  In my opinion by the way Isaiah has been since the start of this school year, most of the PE students are not longer concerned about their academics. I find this very unfortunate. This evening we had a talk with Isaiah, trying to encourage him to excel in all areas of his life, to really reach his God-given potential. "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." If he works out and gets a great looking six-pack, and yet his brain has become a 10-pound worth of tissue that has not been used, that would be a total tragedy.

Abby's room had a big turnout.  The parents all seemed very active.  What was really amazing was one of our old friend's sister has a daughter in Abby's class. She recognized us from pictures that were posted on FB.  What a small world.

We finally left at around 12:30 and ran a few errands before getting  home at around 1:30.  I had to go and get movie tickets for the kids. They went to see the movie, Maze Runner 2 while Alan and I went to a wedding.

I had time for a quick run and then off we went to attend the wedding. The whole restaurant was reserved for the wedding party and it was so great to see old friends!  What a fantastic family time!
