Riding in the Rain

It was another extremely busy day.

After dropping off the kids at the outreach activity, I decided to ride the scooter to get a few errands done. Within five minutes after leaving my house, I was caught in a down pour! By the time I put on my raincoat, I was soaking wet!

I was able to accomplish only three of the five errands... and "slushed" home to take a quick shower!

Wouldn't you know it?!?!?!  After my shower, I looked and the rain stopped!

I have not been in a down pour like that for a long time...

When I picked up the kids this evening, they said the outreach didn't go so well because of the rain!

They won't be going tomorrow or Friday because one of the local basketball teams will be running the basketball clinic! It was an interesting experience for them...

The Start of A New Bible Study Group

This morning I started a new Bible study group! Five dear sisters plus me... studying about dwelling in the shelter of God's promises!

Today's lesson was -- Jesus is the Promise... II Cor. 1:20!

I made lunch for everyone... and Isaiah and Abby came home and finished off the leftovers!

It made for a busy Tuesday... but so worth it!

The kids joined the outreach activities this afternoon and everything went much better than yesterday! They didn't want to go at first... I'm glad I insisted!

After dropping them off, I finally went to drop off the load of stuff in my car! And I went and picked up another load! I have probably two more loads to pick up before Saturday, 9/2! I don't have the time to do these pick-ups and drop-offs... but God is making all things possible!

The rest of the day was spent working on my talks for this Sunday! I'm almost finished...

It Finally Rained!

A typhoon is blowing through down south... And today, the clouds rolled in and we finally had some rain... not a lot... but it cooled down the day! At least for a bit...

Isaiah and Abby went to serve at the KidsGames Outreach activities... and during one of the games, Isaiah said, it poured! But the kids were having a great time even in the rain!

This whole week will be quite busy... Last week of class for Isaiah and cram school for Abby... My Bible study starts tomorrow... and of course, I have two messages to prepare for as this Sunday I'll be speaking in the morning and in the afternoon!

I will also get back to people about the places I've visited last week... should I make an offer or not?

The Gospel for All People -- Luke 4

Today I spoke from Luke 4, focusing on verses 25-27, when Jesus mentioned two different situations from I Kings 17 and II Kings 5!

The simple outline was:

I. The People -- Widow & Leper Naaman
II. The Places -- Sidon & Syria
III. The Circumstances -- Drought & Illness

The Lord led me to focus on this because before using this illustration, Jesus was well received. But the mood and attitude of those listening changed drastically, so much so that they were going to throw him off the cliff!

Two More Apartments!

While the kids were at the worship workshop, I headed out to a suburb of Taipei called SanChong! It's an older area across the Keelung River. The MRT goes there, which has made the properties there go up in price!

I had checked out the map before heading out... but I still got lost. Only by asking other riders at almost every stop & go light did I find the place. It was very much a miracle that I found both places and even got to my appointment early!

The first place was spacious but the stairway was so narrow, you can't move any furniture up. They have a crane on the balcony. That would be the only way to hoist anything up or down... And even that would be very tricky! I liked the fourth and fifth floor with an internal stairway. There is a need to do some remodeling, but not too bad.

The second place had a wider more 'normal' stairway... but the inside needed a lot of work. Furthermore, the rooftop needs to be cleared of all the junk, but that's the problem. The junk belongs to the people on the second floor who have refused to do anything about it. To get anything done, I'd have to get a lawyer involved. Too troublesome...

To summarize... I have really not seen anything I am totally thrilled about... I will go and look at a few more on Monday.

Delicious Mexican Food

Yes, it's been a very special day...

A sister came back from the States and brought be empanadas and cheese tamales!

So, I've been saving them...

This morning I had breakfast at a leisurely pace... coffee and empanadas... these are Mexican breads with pumpkin filling. YUMMY!

For lunch and dinner, I had cheese tamales! DOUBLE YUMMY!

I worked on my talks, and sorting of items... Yes, I'm collecting people's castoffs as the church is going to have a flea market sale to raise money for the after school and elderly programs for the low income people near the church! The car and our living room are both stacked with bags and boxes of things! I am hoping to make 400US$!

In between all that, I did get to talk to Alan. That was super nice!

Another Apartment For Sale

I went to look at another place that's listed for sale... And wow... I can't believe people live in conditions like this in Taipei... In fact, the person living in this place is paying 430US$ to rent a 'box'... The whole building looks like it's about to fall apart! I am going to go see two more places on Saturday. So far, it has been very disappointing to see what you can buy for 130,000US$.
