Coldest Day in Taiwan History

Alan is gone and the weather turned cold, cold, cold... Supposedly the coldest day in the history of Taiwan.

It was quite freezing on the scooter as it was also drizzling.

I was again at the school early to cheer on the students. Then I took a short walk to catch the MRT.

Once home, the afternoon flew by.

We had dinner at a Korean restaurant with friends and I baked and cooked after getting back.

I didn't have time to post pictures... I will do that tomorrow.

What A Day!

Image result for Psalm 134:1
Alan and I started the day by going to encourage seniors as they went to take the Nation-wide tests to enter into college. It's a very big deal.

Then it was off to my friend's hotel to pick up a box that Alan will bring back to the States.

At home, we started packing and I went out to buy a few more things.

The car was loaded by 3:30 and we were off to the airport. After Alan checked in, it was our usual Burger King Meals before boarding.

After saying good-bye, I had to drive back to Taipei in the pouring rain and at night. Needless to say, I got lost. By God's goodness, we found our way home. It was a miracle!

Pictures will be posted tomorrow.

And yes, I miss Alan already. He'll be gone for a whole month!

"Vacation" Has Started

The kids have started their vacation!

Abby went to church all day to prepare for the upcoming Children's VBS.

Isaiah had practice all day.

This evening we finally went to see the Star Wars movie. Sorry to say... I was not too impressed with the whole movie. It was just a repeat of the first couple of movies which were so much better...

The kids are 'on vacation', but I will be tutoring a lot more during these next two weeks. Every morning from 9-12:30 -- two different students. And in the afternoon, I've made different appointments to minister or get together with different people. And then my sister and brother in law will be coming for a short visit!

I think this vacation is going to go by rather fast!

New Experience

Today was a long but fun day as I took the train down to YuLi and visited with dear friends. After spending three very short hours together, I took the train back up to Taipei. YuLi is below Hualien about a 3 hour train ride from Taipei on the express train with very few stops in between.

I left the house by 6:30 this morning and got back by 7:10 this evening.

It was the first time that I've been down the East Coast of Taiwan in 15 years. Things have changed, but it's still very rural and quaint.

At the train station, I also found out that the sale of Chinese New Year train tickets started at midnight yesterday. By the time I got back and got on the internet, no tickets were available. So, Annie and KR won't be heading down to Taitung.

A Running Around Day

Today was a running around day.

I had to make lunch for Alan's students.

I had to pick up watches and deliver them to Nanhu Senior High School.

I had to help a dear sister move to more suitable lodging, which turned out to take a lot longer than expected.

I had to cook for tomorrow's get together.

And the list went on and on and on... So unfortunately, with all this running around, I never had time to run around at the park!

The day is almost over... I'm ready to head off to bed.

The latest news is that this next week, the temperature is expected to drop to 5 degrees and people are talking about snow in Taipei. The worst thing is that Alan won't be around... He takes off on Friday for a month in the States.

Nice Places for Annie and KR's Visit

I've started collecting a list of all the places that I think Annie and KR should eat at. I've realized -- they don't have enough days... and they surely don't have a big enough stomach.

Today, a friend took me to a hot pot place that had fabulous freshly made juices with the freshest vegetables that they grow indoors. Amazing!

Then there is raw.com.tw

It's impossible to get a reservation at this exquisite restaurant. I think I will have to go and get them put on their waiting list.

Two other restaurants are Ding Tai Fong and Grand Hotel, not to mention the night markets...

Oh my...This is going to be fun!

A First at HOP

Today I spoke in Chinese at our House of Praise Sunday service.

I wanted to have more time to share the message and have small group discussion.

I don't think I did a wow job, but I just pray that the Holy Spirit spoke to them about His heart. I leave the long term results to Him.  Overall, it was a very interesting experience. I will share again on April 17th.

The message today was from Luke 2:22-35. And as always, I learned so much from this short passage.

Simeon held a 40 day old baby and proclaimed these words --
"Now Lord, You are releasing Your bond-servant to depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation, Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples, A LIGHT OF REVELATION TO THE GENTILES, And the glory of Your people Israel."

A 40 day old baby as God's salvation, as a light of revelation to the Gentiles, as the glory of God's people Israel.

How astounding!

Simeon could have sang these words only because --  "the Holy Spirit was upon him".

So, my challenge for believers today was that the Holy Spirit is upon us. We need to see life through the eyes of the Holy Spirit or we will easily miss seeing what Simeon recognized!
