Is It Father's Day?

Alan had a two hour massage last night... then I booked him for two therapeutic sport strengthening sessions and then dinner at his favorite Cantonese restaurant... What? Is this a Father's Day weekend?

Mom was up and enjoying her food! While Abby was home, I went to the convenience store and paid a couple of the bills.

I was still feeling worn out... and it was warm. So, I decided to go out for a short run in the evening, averaging only 33.19km for three runs this week... sad, sad, sad... 

Abby had another House of Praise youth launch event in the evening. We were the "FoodPanda" delivery service. It was KTV/Game Night! But unfortunately, most of the youth could not come due to 'Covid 19'. Most of the adult counselors were present! Hopefully, things will get better next week.

Daily Lovely Insight:

These two verses were very encouraging to me... At the Cantonese restaurant, the TV was on. It was broadcasting the local news... how many infected cases? How many deaths? People not getting the antigen tests... nothing was good! I stopped watching!

My eyes are set upon the Lord... I am confident of His goodness in the land of the LIVING! I will wait upon Him. I will be strong and my heart will take courage!

I hope this to be true for you as well!

Slept the WHOLE Day!

Well... almost... I wish...

But I did sleep quite a bit... I fighting off this sore throat! So, I'm drinking lots of water!

Got Mom up and out... 

Then after cleaning up, I went back to bed!

Abby went for a massage. I cooked a delicious tomato soup with chicken and beef chunk. It turned out fabulously.

Alan was home by 12:30! YEAH. ICEE Week is finished! He took a nap after eating lunch.

Abby and I both went back to sleep.

At 3pm, we went out for a little exercise. I walked. Abby and Alan played tennis. It was a bit warm.

Alan went back after dropping Abby off at home as she had tutoring at 5pm. I was home to care for Mom. 

This evening, Alan went for a massage. I stayed home! I really didn't want to do much! I'm so glad that the Center is opened again!

Daily Lovely Insight:

In the news, a 21 year old gal died from Covid and she was fully vaccinated with no pre-existing conditions. People are reacting with such fear. Soochow will be online until next Thursday. Several of the private American schools are going online until the end of the school year. So, families are buying tickets to go back to the States. This is a repeat of last year... 

Please pray! 

As you recall, things shut down from May 17th (right after Mother's Day) to July 27th. Mom was not able to go to the Center. And she had weird effects from getting vaccinated. 

I'm trusting God to provide... I don't see the provision yet. But I know God is faithful!

ICEE Week and Other Things...

With my throat feeling terrible, I had to forgo running this evening... 

It has been an exhausting 10 days... Running has been freeing... but my body is 'rebelling'.

I got Mom up early as I had to go to Soochow to be a part of ICEE Week.

I finished at 1:00 and went and mailed a letter and dropped off things.

Amy, the helper, came at 1:30. I was getting Mom her lunch and keeping her occupied. At 2:45, I put her to bed so that I can tutor and Amy can clean. Tutoring was three hours... Alan was home, so that was very helpful.  Abby went to her basketball practice.

Mom had her dinner and I did the antigen test for her before she went to bed at 8pm. Yes, she is healthy. She can go back to the Center tomorrow! Yippy! 

Alan went to Costco for me. 

Daily Lovely Insight:

This morning before leaving I received a surprising phone call... a lady who has been caring for my paternal grandparents' graves! I haven't talked to her for the past eight years. Each time we go by HsinTien, I always pray for her. She's a devote Buddhist. I was wondering if she was still around. I don't have her contact info and had prayed that she'd get in touch with me. It turned out that she was cleaning her house and came upon a card that I had written to her eight years ago. I had included my home phone number and she called! It's amazing! So, this summer, before Abby takes off, I hope to get in touch with her and we'd go together!

I truly believe God hears the prayers we utter... The answers just might come at moments when we least expect it.

A Second Day of Mess!!!!!!!!

Yup... I smelled it as soon as I finished my quiet time... I think yesterday with her messy hands, she must have ingested some so her stomach was reacting to the filth. It took a long time to get things stripped and for her to get cleaned up. Abby woke up at 11:30 and helped me. We had to do another load... and we took it down to the local laundromat. I had secured Mom in bed... this time, really secured her! We were back in an hour and Mom was fast asleep. A miracle!

Abby had class at 3pm, so she stayed with Mom. We are wiser now. We sat her at the dining room table, no matter what she said. She often says she is tired and wants to go to bed. That's usually a lie. So, we don't go for that anymore! The weather was a bit warmer... but it was nice to be out! I was too tired yesterday!

Counseling this evening... 

Abby went with her classmates to watch the new Dr. Strange movie!

I tried to get in line to acquire one antigen test! The line started at 4pm.  I got there at 6:10. Needless to say, I didn't get one. Our church friend gave me one! I need to do it for Mom before she can return to the Day Care Center.

I just hold on to Jesus... He will carry me through! He has in the past... and He will for my future!

What A Mess!

Abby was complaining about having to help with the care of my Mom. She was saying, "It's only an hour. What can happen?"

Well, today, she saw the evidence of what can happen.

She was home, so I went out to pick up my cell phone. The home button needed to be replaced.

Less than an hour, I got a line message from her. 

She was in the dining room and my Mom was in the room. She walked over to the fridge and smelled something. Yup... you guessed it.

I rushed home and everything had to be stripped and washed! Everything had to be wiped down. I had to send a message to my 3:30 tutoring student. I'm going to be late! I couldn't start until 4pm. It took me more than an hour to get everything sanitized and start a load of laundry. 

I guess I should give thanks as this has not happened for a few weeks! This horrible experience was almost happening every other day! I had forgotten.

I did not have time to go for a run. I was too exhausted.

The Day Care Center did send me a message. They are petitioning the government to reopen the Center on Friday. To have everyone go back, we need to bring the elderly back on Thursday morning at 9am for an antigen test. The Center will pay for it! Unfortunately, Thursday is when Alan has his ICEE event which I am scheduled to attend. I'm asking if there is another time frame, maybe at 1:30.

I am not here to harass or harness God to do my bidding. I am to trust in Him, knowing that He holds me through all of life's ups and downs!

Raining... Perfect!

Yes, it was a raining day. I went out for a run. I was the only person out there! Dah!

I got back and got Mom up and her leg is still hurting! She had breakfast and sat and listened to poetic verses.

Abby was home, so I went and dropped off the stuff in the back of our car! I even had time to go buy soybean milk!

Abby had class at 3pm. 

Mom had her lunch and fruit and dinner and went to bed. She was feeling tired. 

I had tutoring tonight.

Alan started the ICEE Week at Soochow and then heard from the school administrators that school will be on distance learning from tomorrow to Sunday. School is to start back on Monday. He is trying to champion for ICEE to continue.

For tutoring, we worked on Othello!

I went for a short walk this morning and then got Mom up!

Abby and I went and got our hair washed... splendid!

Alan was home with Mom!

Her leg still hurts, but she's still driving us crazy! At least she can't walk around, but she is still 'active'.

Church was great!

Dinner was delicious!

Family Time this evening!

It's going to be a busy week!
