Another Productive Day

I started the day early, as usual!

After dropping Abby off, I went for a short walk!

Then came home to clean the kids' room! I changed their sheet and pillowcases and our pillowcases and then mopped the floor! I also cut Isaiah's hair... and the right side line was a bit off...

Isaiah worked in the afternoon and I went off to tutor!

I had to work on my talks and hopefully, tomorrow I'll finish two more, meaning I will have to main outline finished!

I got to talk to Alan, which was nice. THREE MORE DAYS!

Salad/Fruit and Hot Dogs

Only a few more days and Alan will be home...

Our food bill will change drastically!

While he has been gone, our frig has looked quite empty! This week is salad week... so we are stocked up on lettuce and cucumber!  And yes, I bought hot dogs from Costco...

Last week we were on a fruit diet -- bananas, dragon fruit, apples...

I do bake my own bread... for the kids' breakfast, plus I have small groups coming to our house (so, I did make a big pan of veggie/cheese quiche)!

In preparation for Alan's return, I have already stocked the freezer with meat and fish!

But then when he feels this heat... he might be on our salad/fruit and hot dogs diet... Really, we have no appetite (unless we're sitting in an air conditioned restaurant)!!!

Disappointed!

Abby came home very disappointed!

She finished her first day of the practice tests and she already felt that she did very poorly! She realized that she is not prepared for these exams.

Isaiah came home last year in quite a positive spirit! He tried his best and it was behind him. He didn't let it bother him. Abby came home very differently!

She has five more months... Please remember to keep her in your prayers!

Onto other matters... I forgot to mention that my brother in law, KR, celebrated his 60th birthday! Happy Birthday!!!!!  It rained in Southern California!  The heat is back in Taipei!  We had our second Ladies' Bible study focusing on Phil. 4:19!

Getting Hot Again!

The clouds were gone and the heat returned!

I tried to give myself time to rest today. But as usual... there were lots to do!

A dear brother that has an import company gave me boxes of their expired mint tea... so delicious... He can't sell them but he can give them away. So, I went to deliver them to like-minded people, who would not reject expired mint tea bags from Greece! I'm going to bring some back to the States. I think my sister and mother in law would also enjoy them.

I spent a good amount of time working on a few more talks... and then went to tutor this afternoon.

Abby was at school and Isaiah had another free day... He spent it working on a mini movie recapturing his relationship with his GF these past 7 months...

The Rain Has Continued!

The weather has been so nice and cool... because it has continued to be a drizzling...

Abby and I went out this morning for a bike ride. I enjoyed it tremendously!

For our afternoon service, the passage was from Luke 6: 37-49 and instead of me speaking, I gave the audience a chance to dig deeper and interact with the passage.

The day went by so quickly... and the weekend is gone.

Just one more week and Alan will be back in Taipei!  YIPPY!

Annual Church Community Outreach/Fundraiser

Early this morning I was off to church.

For the past two months, I have been gathering 'goods' for this event!  I had my car piled to full capacity THREE TIMES... donation from different people... including a TV! I had dropped things off in shift to be stored at church with the final load last night!

I was so grateful as one of the church guys came EARLY to help me bring up everything! And even before I was finished setting up, people were already asking me what I had for sale! I already priced my stuff very low -- I wanted to sell as much as possible. Still these old 'grandmas' haggled with me. I had a beautiful Samonite carry on suitcase -- only 100NT$! I had a pair of FitFlop -- only 100NT$! I had an entire bag of socks -- some were the top name brand spandex style socks that flight attendants wear -- for only 50NT$! I knew I had some great stuff... well... these old grandmas must have bragged about what they got as I had so many other grandmas coming to my booth asking for another carry on suitcase or another bag of socks or another pair of FitFlop!

In four hours, our little booth made 15,740NT$! I was so exhausted! My voice was hoarse... We had one big ticket item -- an iPad for 5000NT$! That sold right away! We also sold olive oil and other health food items... they were very expensive... the total from that was 4900NT$. So... our second hand goods still made over 5000NT$!

I came home and took a nap!

Big Purchases!

I had a 'free' day, meaning I had no appointments and no tutoring!

In the morning, Isaiah and I filled out the stuff from his college packet and tried to figure out his class schedule for his first semester at SooChow University. We had a few questions and called the Soochow English Department Office, only to find out that they are still on their summer schedule, which meant they only work from Monday to Thursday! I'll have to call on Monday!

In the afternoon, we headed out to Costco. I needed to get new tires... and that was my first big purchase -- almost 600US$ for 4 top name brand tires.  Then we bought POPCORN! Yes, 44 bags of popcorn. We eat about two a night as we watch TV.  The next two splurges -- Kirkland hot dogs and 'organic' eggs...

Isaiah and I ate lunch there... a late lunch as it was already 3:30!

I worked on two new talks for the rest of the afternoon before we headed out to pick up Abby. We then went to the church to drop off all the stuff I still had in my car! It was so nice to get rid of everything. It was raining... and tomorrow is the big event. The rain cooled down the weather but for tomorrow's church sponsored flea market, we need nice weather to attract as many people as possible.

I'm going to be bed early as it's going to be a long day tomorrow!
