Alan's Birthday!

We had wanted to go out for Isaiah's graduation... and Alan's birthday... but we are still on Level 3.

I went for a quick bike ride to get the salad ingredients for Alan's birthday dinner. I also bought burger buns as Alan wanted a homemade cheeseburger!

Isaiah and Abby were out at their internship.

I was busy as I had tutoring in the morning from 10:30 to about 12. Mom was up and down and up and down...

Alan went to school to pick up Isaiah's diploma and also applied for the kids' scholarship reimbursement. When he was back, I went for a run in the heat!

After a quick shower, I went to Costco to get pizza for Alan's birthday dinner.

The kids were back by 6pm and we had the birthday celebration... Dear friends dropped off lemon tarts for Alan! They were fabulous. We had Costco pizza and salad... and then played Skip-Bo and watched TV. What a fun evening!

What Does Psalm 72:6 Mean?

I never thought of the LORD in this way... Maybe that's why I love running in the rain so much!

Box Packed for the Philippines!

The day flew by... as usual... and it was so hot and muggy. I just wanted to sit under an AC unit and let it blow!

It did sprinkle this afternoon, which made it more like a sauna.

Isaiah and Abby were both at their internship.

More bikes are gone... More items given... More boxes packed. They will pick up on Friday!

This evening I had my Bible study and then went to deliver more goods that I have been collecting to give away! I was going to ride my bike, but no time and I was a bit tired... but the temperature was so perfect... I wanted to run. But I know that if I run so late, I won't be able to fall asleep... So... I resisted!

Daily Lovely Insight:

We looked at Manneseh, the king of Judah. He started out as a wicked king... repented and became known as a good king. The point is: no one is too gone to be redeemed by God!

We also talked about how our temple, our body, is being renovated by God... I thought that was a great question... we are also under renovation!

Another Hot Day... More Things Given Away!

It was so unbearably hot...

Mom was up early as I had tutoring at 8:30.

I love my students... I don't enjoy tutoring online... but what can you do?

After tutoring, I get a message that a neighbor saw the bikes that I've been cleaning up and would like us to help her. So, we did... Removed another lock, cleaned it up and gave it away. I also posted the other bikes and one lady came and took two bikes, and the basket and seat! YEAH! I am down to only three more bikes to give away!

I had a prayer session on line...

Abby went to her internship -- no pay... And she will find out if she has to go every day or just three times a week. It all depends on the Level 3 ban!

Isaiah went to his internship -- with minimal pay. He will work four days a week and have Friday off! He received his semester grades. His average: 88.888! ha, ha, ha...

Alan went to get a better bike seat rod... We paid 20US$, but it's still not long enough for his legs. So, he went to ride around in the heat to find a shop that can sell him a better one.

I went running this evening and even then it was HOT! Steaming hot... the air was hot... plus I had to have a mask on.

Daily Lovely Insight:

I was reading about Jehu... It's so funny...

Jehu drove his chariot so furiously that he was known for his reckless driving... ha, ha, ha... The watchman recognized him in II Kings 9:20 by his driving!

2 Kings 9:20 KJV - And the watchman told, saying, He came even unto them,  and cometh not again: and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son  of Nimshi;

Then in another passage (II Kings 10:16), he invites someone to ride with him. And the Bible phrased it like Jehu 'forced' him to get on his chariot. That's so great... Because sometimes I don't like sitting behind Alan when he rides the scooter or sitting in the car when Abby is driving.. It's like the movie -- FAST & FURIOUS! I'm more SLOW & CAUTIOUS!

2 Kings 10:16 KJV - And he said, Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot.

Online Worship & Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July! - In God We Trust

Alan helped me to cut through three locks... So, I walked one down, got a basket for it and pumped up the tires. And we got the one ready for our upstairs neighbor. It was so hot, that I only made one trip.. I couldn't go back and forth... so I will post the bikes and whoever wants them can get them fixed.

I did go to the supermarket and bought groceries to make a delightful salad for dinner. It was so yummy especially on such a hot day. Service was at 4pm. And while we were having dinner, a dear sister dropped by and gave us mangos... YUMMY and more dessert for Alan! SUPER YUMMY!

I bought more adult diapers and inserts for Mom... I tried to turn on the AC unit in her room as she now turns off the ceiling fans. I had put several different fans in her room, but she has broken everyone of them. Now, she has figured out how to turn off the ceiling fan. The room was so stuffy... And the fan and the AC unit help with the smell... I had to turn them on after she went to bed, just to circulate the air!

The speaker for our worship service spoke from the book of Haggai!

This evening we had Family Time!

Prayers Heard... Prayers Answered!

I thank you all for praying... It was a long week... BUT, today... relief!

I had time for a nap... It was so delightful. I closed my eyes and woke up so much more refreshed! I don't feel like I have jet lag! And I haven't even been traveling!

My sweet neighbors dropped off romaine lettuce and bread. Another sister dropped off banana pecan muffins and avocados.

I sent off the luggage for another gal who needed it... but I still haven't cracked the locks! I tried working on them this morning... Did not work. I need a lock cracking kit! I am trying to shape paper clips. It's much harder than I thought!

I edited essays and finished my talk notes and ppt. YEAH!

I went for a run this evening and it was still HOT! AND NO RAIN! The weather forecast said 50% rain, but nothing... It was partly cloudy, but the temperature did not drop! We had to use the AC!

This evening we watched a new show: The Closer. We will have Family Time tomorrow night because Isaiah had a meeting at 9:30pm. And Alan and Isaiah wanted to watch some of the Wimbledon games. Abby watched Korean Soap Operas while I worked on editing.

I also know you are praying because Mom was calm today! In fact, she ate, went back to bed, ate, went back to bed... It wasn't the every 7 minute routine!

Hot and No Time To Rest!

I'm trying to give away the bikes... But first I had to try to break the locks...

I'm down to three more bikes... three more locks!

Gave away a router box... Gave away a bike seat and a bike... they all came to pick these items up. Gave away cutlery and a packing box! I also biked to get errands done... paying bills and transferring our tithes!

I did go for a longer run... it was hot... but I was glad to be out!

Alan and I didn't really have a date... but it was nice to read and pray together.

Daily Lovely Insight:

I like reading about Elijah and Elisha... Even in the midst of wicked kings, they stood firm and never wavered when it came to speaking the truth to people. They lived fearlessly, proving again and again that God reigned! Oh yes, they were discouraged... but the LORD restored them and strengthened them.

A New Insight!

We have figured out why it's so crazy with the care of my mom... There is no rhyme or reason to what she does and when she does it! It's not like caring for a baby or an infant or a toddler. I could put the child on a schedule or in a play pen. I schedule when the baby needs to be changed or fed. With my mom, because she is mobile and I can't stick her in a play pen, and there is no schedule, I don't know when she will take a nap or want to go to the bathroom... I try to schedule her meals and her showers, but even that, she will tell me she doesn't want to eat or that she has already taken a shower, when she hasn't. This insight has helped all of us... especially yesterday and today as she was again, 'hyper'. That's our label... Or we call it 'crazy day'. That's when every few seconds, she will want to go to the bathroom, for no reason!

Yesterday morning, we woke up to the smell of urine... and I had a lot of work to get things cleaned up, yet again! This time, not on the floor but on the bed. I'm grateful, as I had double-double, double-double the bed... double the pads, and double the sheets, so nothing got on the mattress. If urine got on the mattress, I would have to toss the mattress. But still, it was a lot of work...

Then I helped a friend move out of her house, so I brought back two huge boxes of things to sort out... But Mom was in her active mood... Isaiah was at work. Alan was trying to finish her grades. So, it was either Abby or I...

I also wanted to take pictures of the bikes and post them, but I didn't have time! I couldn't go down to do that... I did get to go and meet up with two people to hand them some of the items to give away.

That was yesterday...

Today, Alan and I went to the tax office and we are getting a small refund... YEAH! 200US$! Any little bit is a blessing... Abby was home with Mom!

In the afternoon, Abby and I went for a hair treatment... That was so relaxing...

I did go for a run in the morning heat... You can't get away from the heat anymore.

I wanted to work on my talk for 7/11, but still no time!

Daily Lovely Insight:

I can't believe it's already July... We are half way through 2021... Traveling isn't happening... And we still have a lot of unknowns for Isaiah's departure for University of Warwick. But it's like my living room on days when I'm packing boxes to be shipped to the Philippines. It looks like a tornado blew through... but then slowly as things are packed orderly into the boxes, that sense of chaos is turned to calm... God's mighty hands are in charge, putting all things in order... and so my heart can be calm even in the midst of the chaos!
