Abby Passed All Her Classes!

Yes, we were worried!  If she didn't pass, we would have had to change her flight. But there are no seats available as this is the peak season.  It was just going to be a big mess...

Two subjects were the ones we were worried about -- Social Studies and Math!

She said she tried her best. I believed her. Both of these classes had 40% as the class participation score.  But all three of her exams this semester were below 60.  That's what got us worried!

Today we got on the computer and saw her final class score for these two classes --

Math 62
Social Studies 61

We jumped for joy!

Yes, I couldn't believe that I was jumping for joy for such a low passing score.  But I didn't want her to lose the opportunity to go to the states this summer. My mom would enjoy seeing her. Alan's mom would enjoy seeing her. My sister would enjoy seeing her. All her cousins would enjoy seeing her.

Now, when she gets back, she will have to go to cram school to beef up her knowledge on these two subjects as it's only going to get harder.

No Rain, So Hot

I kept looking and waiting for the rain to come... BUT, it did not.

Without the rain, the whole day was hot and sticky.

I didn't go for a run or bike ride in the early morning, hoping for the rain to come in the afternoon. I love running in the rain.

But... not a drop. So... the day passed... I tutored and continued to organize the files. The day stayed too hot to go out... this evening it cooled down a little, but I was feeling much too tired.

Maybe tomorrow.

The Cleaning Continues

We have continued to clean the study. We have kept way too much paper stuff. Alan is ruthless. He really is throwing away tons of his seminary notes. I don't know how he can do it. I'm going to have a much harder time. I already know.

He plowed through his files at such speed. When I get to my kids' school work... oh no... I want to look through everything and will have a very difficult time saying goodbye to their kiddie art work or doodling.

I had planned the month of July to finish everything. Now I think I will need not a month but an entire year! Oh my... I need help!

HOP Poolside Pizza Party

As summer has started, we hosted the first poolside pizza party at our complex. The complex set up an above ground kiddie pool, so the kids had a soak in there.  Just before the party, there was a downpour... it cooled the afternoon down tremendously as the first floor lobby's A/C unit is no longer working. In fact, I went for a run in the downpour and it was so much fun with a small group of people.

July Is Here! ALREADY!

Friday is our date time... but today we started MASSIVE CLEANING.

With the kids already in high school (Isaiah will be a senior and Abby will be a junior), I told Alan we have to go through the books that we've collected throughout the years. And since he will be leaving on July 8th, I asked to start today.

We cleared out NINE boxes of books and got the kids' room reorganized. We still have games and toys to go through, but that can wait.  We kept some of our favorite stories... I love Curious George and Dr. Seuss. So even though we packed up so many boxes of books, all the bookshelves are still packed with books!

Alan will start on the files next week. And after he takes off, I'll spend the rest of the summer clearing out my files. Less is best... It's going to be a difficult task as I have a difficult time throwing away the things that the kids had made or written!  Every scrap of paper holds a special memory!

Today I said goodbye to their books... One thing that made it easier is knowing that the people who will be taking all of our books will really enjoy them!

Not So Free Day

I thought I was going to have a free day... but it turned out to be quite a busy day.

The reason was --- I volunteered to babysit... it was tremendously fun, but made the day a lot busier than I expected.

It helped me to remember that caring babies is a full time job!!!!!!!!!!

PTA Appreciation Dinner

This has been another busy day.

Met up with James and then tutored. After that I went for a run and did housework. At 4:30, we took off to set things up for the PTA dinner.

I had a blast.

Isaiah and Abby played two songs.

I welcomed people in. I'm very good as a greeter.

We got back by 10pm and I brought home all the leftovers.

Our frig is bursting with so much food. I don't think I need to cook for another three or four days.
