Last NSB Class!

What a running around day!

I took Mom to a church nearby to check out their weekly elderly program... The people again were super nice... but they don't have an elevator... Sometimes the program is held on the first floor and on other days, they go up to the second floor! I might go and have her try their elderly Bible study on Thursday morning!

After that, I took Mom to the stores as I needed to return the shower rod I bought yesterday (it didn't work) and buy another one from a hardware store! Going to stores with Mom takes a little longer... but I wanted her to walk!

We got home at 1pm and I gave her lunch while I got ready to go and teach.

Because it was the final NSB class, I had made 'thanksgiving dishes' and prepared a simple listening exam. I had a lot to bring...

The class was fantastic... They ordered food from McDonald's and we had a party for the last hour! I wrote them a letter and bought them a small gift... and prayed together with them! They all asked if they would see me again or if I was coming back next year to teach... When I got down to the first floor, I saw three students who made it back into NSB. They were in a preparatory class with me for only 20 hours. This class was made up of potential NSB candidates but their English was just way too low. They were so thrilled to see me as I was to see them. I guess they were grateful and felt that I had really helped them to overcome their fear of using English otherwise they would not have been able to score high enough on the TOEIC test to work at NSB!

I got back home and prepared Mom's dinner.  When Abby got home, I rushed off to my Tuesday evening Bible study!

We are starting a new book...

I didn't get back until 10:30 and the house was in a mess!

We had received all the goodies from renewing the cell phone contracts, which meant two nice stand-up cordless vacuum cleaners, 6 bags of laundry detergent, 3 bags of dishwashing liquid, 5 tubes of toothpaste and 80 packets of tissue! Not to mention that Alan brought back leftover from the English Department Thanksgiving luncheon! I worked for the next hour or more getting the house back in order! I still haven't figured out where to put all the tissue packets... (Annie... too bad you don't have the "luggage" when you come in January... I could send some with you!)

I sit here to finish this blog and I'm heading to bed... I did go for my 30 minute run this morning before Alan went to teach... Thank you, Jesus! He knew what my day was going to be like...

Last Mental Class

Today was the final class for Mom... I really need to find another class for Mom to take... It has been great to have professionals working with Mom to do all kinds of activities to help her.

In the morning I took her to the Taipei "K-mart" as the shower extension rod broke. While there, I found quite a few wonderful items on the discount shelves... salsa from the States, grapes from the States (but I didn't see any over-ripe avocado!)... So, here I was thinking I'd be buying only an extension rod for 5US$ ended up spending 35US$ instead!

The weather also cooled down...

In the evening I got a message from the helper who was scheduled to come tomorrow afternoon... She's not feeling well... Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... I have my last class with my NSB students... In fact, I made mashed potatoes and mashed yam... and will be baking a cranberry cake... I am trusting God to provide... I will keep you posted!

Another Sunday

Today's weather was totally different from yesterday's...

It was rather HOT...

I took Mom to the local supermarket, so she didn't sit at home to watch In Touch!

Isaiah had to tutor in the morning and again in the evening...

Abby went to play basketball in the morning and again in the evening...

Alan had a tennis tournament in the morning and we all went to church this afternoon.

It was the second prayer walk and I spoke from Matthew 18: 10-35 before sending everyone out to walk... and PRAY...

In light of the upcoming election, please be praying for Taiwan... November 24th is the general election here... and it will be a very important one, too!

A "Long" Run...

Today was raining... in the morning... So, Alan was home.

I had wanted to go for a "long" run, meaning a run that can be more than 30 minutes.

So, even though it was raining, Mom was watching In Touch, and I went out... My goal... 15 kilometers...

I was pleasantly surprised... I was able to do that in less than 2 hours... about one hour and 45 minutes!

Half way through, my legs got the idea... but when I got back... I thought... Oh my... it's going to be a miracle to run for SEVEN hours... that's my goal... first, to finish... And to finish in 7.5 hours... Okay... maybe just to finish!

And Abby went to get her hair permed and instead chose the hair dye job... It turned out beautifully, but she got 'ripped off' as the guy told her to use a better grade of solution, which cost three times as much as the coupon I bought... She called Dad to ask him to go down there to bring her some money. The coupon was 800NT$ for a 3000NT$ hair treatment (you can choose what you want done)! I should have gone with her... She lined me when she got to the hair salon and I told her "Say NO"... but she said it was her money... After she got home, she regretted it... she thought it was only going to be an additional 1000NT$ but the bill came to 2000NT$!

Isaiah was going to have his basketball practice in the morning but because of the rain, it was cancelled. Instead, we all went to pick up the lost MRT card. It was a long drive to get to the bus company's office, but totally worth it. On the way back we stopped and got lots of errands done -- renewed Alan, Abby and Isaiah's cell phone contract, updated bank book, picked up library books, got things copied off... The only thing I didn't get to do was to go and buy veggies for a dinner salad. That's ok as I can take Mom tomorrow morning... That will give us something to do...

Annual Goal Setting & Afternoon Tea at the Regent!

Today I scheduled Mom for her massage while Alan and I talked about 2018 and looked forward to 2019! We didn't finish with setting our goals for 2019... We will have to set another time this weekend to finish up!

In the afternoon, I had made reservation for 8 for the buffet style afternoon tea at Regent! It was fabulous! The two people I invited gave Isaiah and Abby a gift plus a red envelope! The food was delicious... and of course, Mom had a grand time! The two hours flew by! Isaiah also invited Vikki to join us!

We dropped Vikki off... and then dropped Isaiah off as he had a tutoring job! Abby had her scooter, so she went off to her ministry meeting. We came home and I supervised Mom's evening routine and she was in bed by 7:30! She had a very full day...

I tidied up the house, finished my ppt for Sunday's prayer walk, did class prep, went through my email and then out for a quick run! It was surprisingly warm for a November evening!

No one was hungry for dinner...

One Month Away!

I can't believe it... It's November 15th... which means I'm one month away from the RUN on 12/15! And have I had any long runs??? Yes, you know the answer to that question -- NO!

I just haven't had the time to get away especially since Alan is gone quite a bit this month...

Hopefully, 30 minutes, 6 days a week will be enough training... I really would like to run for TWO hours at least ONCE just to see if I can do it...

In other news... please remember to pray for Abby... she is so forgetful... She's "lost" her wallet... which we found... She's "lost" her student ID... which we found... Now she's "lost" her elevator card, which we have not found! I help her tidy up her room daily. She makes her bed... but she's not very organized! I think she has poor time management! Please pray!

I did not go to check out the other programs yet... I will have to schedule that hopefully next week or for sure before the end of November! There is just so much going on... But I have so enjoyed meditating and living out Ps. 68:19! Look that up... It's a great verse!

Midterm Tests Are Over

It was Midterm Week for Alan and the kids last week. Now, Alan is frantically correcting tests while the kids have entered the "finish the report" week...

Isaiah got two of his scores -- 89 and 87. Abby got one of her scores -- 99 (which she should have gotten 100 if she didn't go and change her answer!)

I did not take my mom over to the new program... Instead, we just hung out and rested at home. Plus, this gave me time to help others -- finding apartment for James, finding housing for a softball team from the Philippines... and getting some housework done!

The weather seemed cooler... And Alan was home to supervise Mom while I went off to tutor!

Because I was supervising vigilantly, we had a 'no incidence' day!
