Beidalao of China
The Beidalao inhabit parts of Rong'an and Rongshui counties in the northern part
of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The Beidalao have lost the use of their
own customs, and have replaced them with numerous customs and ceremonies
borrowed from the peoples alongside whom they have lived for centuries. Even
their clothing reflects the Dong and Miao who live in the Rongshui County area.
Animism and polytheism are the major religions among the Beidalao. They also
worship their "close" ancestors to the third or fourth generation. "Distant"
ancestors (i.e., more than four generations) are not worshiped regularly but are
included at annual ceremonies.
Ministry ObstaclesSpiritual opposition can be expected whenever Jesus is presented to a people or to a person. Workers need to be prepared for this.
Outreach Ideas
Gospel recordings are available in the language of the Beidalao. Pray for workers to take these to the people.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There may be no followers of Jesus Christ among the Beidalao today. Pray the Lord will stir the hearts of these people to worship the creator God, not created things or ancestors.
Pray for the entire people group
Please pray the Beidalao people will be able to provide a good education for their children. Pray for those who are unable to care adequately for their own needs; that the community and perhaps governmental agencies will step up to their responsibility to assist.
Scripture Focus
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21 (What a great verse to claim!!!!)
