The Wilderness Experience

The Uniform!
The Pose!
Isaiah left this morning for his wilderness experience outing with all 7th and 8th graders. What will they be doing?  Cooking for themselves... sleeping in tents... having paint ball fights... being outdoors... You get the idea!  They are not going to be sleeping much, but they are going to have fun, fun, fun. He will be back on Friday afternoon -- happy and exhausted.  I miss him. We all do.  This is his first time away from "home".  I know God is with Him!

A New Hobby

Love this length!

Maybe I will go for a shorter cut next time!
Great style for running as it is getting hot here!
What is my new hobby?  Can you guess from the pictures I have posted?  My new hobby is CUTTING MY OWN HAIR!!!!  Really!!!  I have been cutting Alan's hair for the past 24 years. I also cut Isaiah's hair. I trim Abby's hair WHEN she lets me. And although hair cuts are fairly inexpensive here (only about 4US$ and no need to tip!) the hairstylists just won't do what I ask of them. So, about three weeks ago, I started to experiment with cutting my own hair.  And yesterday, while everyone was out, I set everything up at home and went to work. I love the results. What do you think?

The Kids' Rooms

Abby got her new furniture and it looks so great. Her room seems much bigger and she loves having her L-shaped desk. We hung her bulletin board and pictures. The first two photos are of Isaiah's room now that the pictures are hung... and YES, we found that basketball hoop in the trash. We got it cleaned up and "fixed" and now it's in his room. Needless to say, he loves his room as well. And we can have a guest stay overnight as Isaiah has the bunk beds set up. We are thinking about purchasing an extra bed that goes under Abby's bed. Then we can have more people over! Of course, it would be even better to have a 7-bedroom house!!!!

Finally!

We finally hung up all the pictures and the house looks great.
And Abby's room is also finished.

Annual Family Portraits Part Two

I hope you can guess the theme for this year -- the "CHARGERS". The kids bought these shirts in Shanghai at the "Fake Market". We also thought it would be fun to let others know our yearly Bible verse, which for this year is Zech. 4:6 -- "not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit says the LORD of host." As a family, we want to live, trusting more in Jesus than in our own strength and ability and power and wisdom. Alan and I will be celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary on April 11th. God's Spirit has indeed knitted our hearts closer together as one in Christ. We have been invited to lead a one-day workshop conference on April 21st. The theme for the conference is -- EMBRACING OUR DIFFERENCES! How appropriate for Alan and I to speak on this topic! Please pray for us. We want to encourage all Christian marriages to glorify God. We have also turned in the homeschooling applications for both Isaiah and Abigail. Everything should be approved before we take off for the States on July 5th. I have also started on my retirement process. Yes, I will be retiring from Ming Chuan University by July 31st of this year. So, this year's portrait theme seems to be quite appropriate -- we are indeed charging forward with interesting changes ahead of us this year!
