End of November... Already!

I was up early and went out for my run as I had much to do this morning before getting Mom up.

I ran my 10 and hit 60K... yeah! I went to WGE for a quick shower and did only one machine and then I was scootering to Yang Ming Hospital to pick up Mom's medicine and prescription for the following two months. She doesn't really take any medication... only what is necessary to keep her 'asleep'... I waited for 20 minutes and then finally just knocked and asked the nurse if I needed to wait any longer as I'm only here to pick up the meds.

On the way home, I stopped at Soochow to look at the 24hr ultra runners. Yes, they are going around and around and around for 24 hours! Camille Herron is here and there are runners from Japan, Australia, Ukraine and Malaysia. I will go again tomorrow.

I was home and got Mom up and eating her breakfast while I organized her clothes and did another load of clothes.

Abby was in Houston so we sent messages back and forth before she got on her next flight!

Isaiah went out with Fenny to celebrate his birthday... they are eating, eating, eating... Korean BBQ and then Afternoon Tea!

Alan went for a massage...

I stayed home with Mom...

After Mom went to bed, Alan and I drove to church to drop things off...

No Black Friday Here!

I was up and went back to sleep... I was so tired...

I started a load of laundry and got Mom up and out. Then I hung up the clothes and went out for my usual 10K. It was warm even though the temperature was below 20.

I was home and Isaiah had taken the day off. We all went to Burger King for lunch and we also dropped off things at Soochow as they will have a Christmas Rummage Sale next week.

We were home and I had tutoring at 4:30.

This evening after Mom went to bed, we headed off to a friend's house for dinner.

Happy Birthday, Abby!

I was up and out... and yes, I got back and got Mom up and out...

After a quick shower, I went to drop off the donation and then scootered to Banqiao. I got there by 11:00, super early. I sat in the lobby and ate my sandwich.

Class went well... and I scootered to the old house, stopping to get a nice bowl of soup!

I cleaned and sorted and a friend came to look at the place. It's too far for her. That's ok... God knows.

I was scootering back home as Mom was due home. I popped her dinner in and rushed downstairs.

Now... for Abby's Update:

I’ve been in Brazil for a year and 8 months and 2 weeks. Wonderful things have happened this year including meeting new friends from church, joining different ministries, and also going for a visit to Taiwan!

I want to start out by praising God for everything He has done and will do. Indeed, He is a faithful Father. As I was reading last year’s recap, I noticed that God answered a lot of my prayers.

Here are some highlights, updates and prayer requests:

The first highlight would be that my dad was able to visit me twice this year! Which missionary get to have their dad visit them not once, but twice in one year? I’m very blessed. My dad has really become a source of encouragement for me as he was literally one call away from many rough times. I believe God really used my dad to speak into my life. My mom has always understood me and would also be there to disciple and love me. But because my dad had visited me twice, he understands first-hand what I’m going through. I cannot be morethankful for my parents’ support and love. Every time I think of my family, I get teary eyed. In Proverbs 20:7, “The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them.” I keep sharing this with others how my parents have set a righteous and blameless examples for me and my brother. And all I have and all I am now is just living under the blessings of my parents’ faithfulness to our Creator. And I thank God for this.

The second highlight would be being able to connect with more young adults and form a bond with them. Earlier this year, through a friend, I was able to meet another friend which of course led me to meeting lots of other people. If you follow my blogs, you will see the great friends God provided for me. This made me feel like God was using these friends to take care of me. “Oil and perfume makes the heart glad, and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel.” Proverbs 27:9

So far, I’ve been able to help out with our adult cell group and girls cell group. I’ve been able to help out with our new church with the worship team and the multi-media team. My priority has been to help Bella with her school. So that has had many ups and downs but God is good. I’m still learning as to how to be a learning coach for her. But by God’s grace, He has helped me and taught me to rely on Him. I’m still a part of the girls volleyball team which has been good. My dog has been doing well. He is as old as I’ve been in Brazil. So he is very special to me.

Prayer Requests:

My Portuguese to continue to improve.

My life direction. It’s a weird feeling because I usually know quite clearly what my goals are. I do sense that changes are coming.

My ministry. I want to continue to serve as the Spirit leads.

My relationships with others. I don’t want to pull away from others due to the feeling that I don’t belong. I know that’s a lie.

Hope Unlimited. In November we were in the States, speaking at many churches. Pray for wise leaderships, abundant donations and God’s continued provision.

Thank you all for your love, support, and prayers. Prayer makes a big difference. God bless you all!!!

Last Wednesday Class...

I was up and went out for my 10k.

Then it was time to get Mom up and out... she was hyper last night... And then I helped with the recycling.

I ate my breakfast in a leisurely manner and then sat and read and rest as this was Part 2 of my weekly Sabbath.

At 12:45, I took off for my class... It was our last... And I told the teacher, I'm putting my Soochow Study back on Wednesday next semester since I'm not sure if this project will continue. She said that it will continue only if we hit the minimum number of students... I don't think they will... Unfortunately...

I was home at 3:45 and had to call the social worker... I need to reschedule the annual evaluation because the extra services do not start until that evaluation is done... I can't use the "helpers" unless I want to 'self pay'!

I dashed off for my 4:30 tutoring and made it two minutes early... the hour flew by and I was back on my scooter, flying home as the scooter parking space 'drawing' was at 6pm. Luckily, they got Alan to do it and I rushed up to take care of Mom. She was already finished with her dinner and was scooting her chair out and had thrown rice down on the floor.

Alan was up and we got an extra scooter parking space! YIPPY!

Alan had spent the day cleaning out our game closet... what a massive task. We had plenty of leftovers... So yummy!

After Mom went to bed, I worked on sorting through all the stuff that I had brought for the Wednesday class...

Double Again...

I was up and after my time with Jesus, I went back to bed as it's my Sabbath... at least for a few hours this morning since I have to go to Banqiao on Thursday.

After Mom left, I intentionally slowed down. The weather was marvelous, so I did go out for my 10k. I came back and had a leisurely brunch with delicious leftovers... I felt like I was at a five star hotel. Then I sat and read and rested until it was time to go to Soochow for the Bible study. Three students didn't show up but two other students came!

I went to WGE after the study and did a quick workout before stopping to buy a refill for one of Alan's pens.

Alan had a Thanksgiving Luncheon and he brought home most of the leftovers. WOW... I had that and it was so delicious.

Mom was home and I had prayer time with a sister before heading off to my evening Bible study after I got Mom to bed...

The weather really cooled down...

Isaiah went to play basketball.

Alan had a quiet evening at home.

The Chargers lost to the Ravens... the two brothers were the coach on opposite teams. I watched the highlights.

Happy Birthday, Isaiah!

I was up and went for my 10k. And after Mom took off, Isaiah and I went to Costco to check out the "Black Friday" goods... NOTHING... I just bought a few things for our household.

Anyhow... here is Isaiah's yearly update:

2024:

I started in the Claims Department of Nanshan Insurance Corp. and now works in the Customer Service Project Department. Even though I didn't pass all the required insurance examinations, I am still working at Nanshan. One reason is: I love my co-workers, but that's not enough to keep me from looking at future opportunities in the Financial Industry. Please pray for God to open the door or to take a step in faith.

I am still pursuing to look for a place to invest in with Mom and Dad's help. So far, the housing market in Taipei is just too 'hot'.

I need to lose weight. With my current job, I find that I am too lazy after work to really work out. I need to lose at least 5 kilos.

HOP is going to start a morning service for Young Adults. I will be part of the leadership group. Please pray.

I would love to take a trip to the States, so maybe in 2025 that will be a reality.

I am dating Fenny, who is not yet a believer. Please pray for her heart and willingness to take a step of faith. I met Fenny in April at a church sponsored social event. She also went to the UK for her masters and is two years older. She currently works as a Project Manager at View Sonic. Her family is from Kaohsiung. And we hit it off right away as we didn't just chitchat but really shared more openly about our views and opinions. She is willing to attend church and we do talk about God.

Two more highlights are: Dad and I ran the Nanshan 12.5 run on November 10th and throughtout the year,  I also participated in other Nanshan sporting events. And towards the end of this year, I was invited to be a deacon at HOP.

So, what about 2025? I guess the theme would be: New Things.

The verse that seems to speak to my heart is: Isaiah 43: 18-19.

Isaiah 43:18-19 Forget the Former Things I Am Making a Way in the Wilderness Scripture Art Bible Verse Wall Art Bible Verse Print - Etsy

Perhaps the Lord needs to make a way in the wilderness or streams in the wasteland in my life. Mom always tells me to kick the bad and pursue the godly, to make God my Firm Foundation and my Focus.

That's my update for this year!

Fast Paced Sunday!

I was up and after my time with Jesus, I walked to pick up my scooter. I then went to WGE and did a quick workout before going to buy fruit and bread for the week. The bread I get are what Mom likes for breakfast...

I was home and put away the clean clothes and got Mom up! I make oatmeal for her weekend breakfast. But I have to have bread to put into her mouth after her shower or else she will spit...

We were off for church at 2;15 and Isaiah translated. I set up and I had bought these nice tangerines to put out for the Love Cafe! All the snacks were gone... and all the coffee and tea, as well... I will go to Costco on Monday to replenish!

Isaiah translated so it was nice to be in the service without needing to be serving.

After the service we had the bi-annual board meeting!

We then drove Fenny home and I got Mom to bed after we got home.

I had someone coming to pick up things... and then prayer time with a sister.

This week is going to be another fast paced week. Oh... I did get to talk to Corenne, Phil, Gina and Alden and Mom Bea this morning. That was super nice! I'm so glad Abby was able to see Mom Bea, and the 'gang'. They were heading to LA as they have more speaking arrangements. I'm praying that the trip will be super fruitful in every way.

Appreciation Luncheon and Birthday Fun!

I was up and went out for my 11k, finishing the week with 60! FANTASTIC!

I took a shower at home since there was too much to do... this whole week I have not gone to WGE. Oh well...

I got Mom up and eating her breakfast.

Isaiah was home, napping as he came home so 'early'.

Alan went to play tennis.

And I had a helper come at 11am. Alan and Isaiah left in the car and I went by scooter.

We had a great luncheon and when that finished, we took off to Dasi Old Street. The weather was cold and windy but it wasn't raining. The place was crowded but so nice... We were all so full. So even though the food was so good, we could not eat another bite. We walked around and that was nice. They had set up lots of museum like things and there were performers as well.

We bought stinky tofu and radish cake and fried squid and other fried goodies... and ate everything along with Coco drinks as we drove home. We then played Mahjong!

What a fun day!

Meeting Up with Old Friends!

I was up and went out for my 10k after Mom took off for the Center. I also did a load of laundry, cleaned up the different bins in Mom's room and sent the 'robot' to vacuum before going out. Thus, I only had time for 10k.

Alan and I met up with our old friends at Alan's favorite restaurant and just sat there and chatted until almost 3pm.

We were home and I rested as I had to tutor at 4:30. And yes, they were there! The two hours went by quickly and I headed home, not even stopping at WGE. I have not gone there this week as it has been a tremendously busy week!

I was home and Isaiah was back from work and he was napping. I hope he's not sick!

I got Mom to bed and started to work on things... I had two Bible studies homework to finish up.

What A Long Ride!

I was up and just decided to wait to go for my run... After Mom took off, I went for my 10k.

Then I took a fast shower and 'flew' out the door... GPS said 39 minutes... I gave myself 80 and that was not enough. It took me 90 minutes plus I had to circle around the building, trying to find scooter parking. The class had only a few people... it turned out that there was an emergency meeting... They wanted to cancel but I had already left. I only found out after I got home and downloaded my emails. They were trying to reach me at 11:16!

Anyhow, the students were very nice... I will bring a pumpkin pie for them next week!

And yes, it took me about 80 minutes to get back home. I did not stop at WGE. I just came straight home as I was hungry and wet... the legs of my pants were completely soaked!

I had a delicious lunch and worked on some Bible study materials and soon Mom was home!

I was planning to meet up with a possible tenant for the old house, but I messaged her and cancelled. I was just too tired! I didn't want to rush over there after getting Mom to bed and then rush back home as we were having Family Time tonight!

Restful & Busy Wednesday

I was up and out and ran my 10k as I knew the day would be busy.

After Mom left, I went to help with the recycling. Once that was done, I went upstairs and settled down on the sofa with two books. YIPPY!

12:30 came too quickly. I headed out for my 1pm class. Again, what a great class! Absolutely delightful!

I was home and grabbed my other tutoring bag and headed out. The ride up was not a problem as it wasn't raining, so I got there five minutes early.

That hour went by smoothly and I was home by 6:07. The helper left and I ate my dinner and got Mom to bed. Yes, I had the complex meeting at 7:30... And after tonight, I have only one more! It was another long one... I had to finally just tell the lady to stop...

Isaiah worked and went out to dinner with Fenny.

Alan was home correcting papers.

Abby is in Atherton, California. Angel Lin might be able to see her and surprise her with some Chinese goodies! I know Annie has bought her a few things already... It's just so nice as there are so many people who will go out of their way to make Abby feel special since I can be there to do it! I just want to say a big THANK YOU!

Big Mistake!

I was up and went for only 8k. I rushed home to get Mom up and out and got ready to head to my Tuesday morning Bible study.

I looked for my keys... Can't find them... what? I looked in all my jacket pockets and bags... and then I looked in the key tray... I SEE ALAN'S KEYS! NO!!!! He took my bunch! I tried to contact him. He is playing tennis, so that means NO WAY!

I messaged him and headed out in the car! And I knew it would be tremendously difficult to find parking. And it was... I was a little late... but I got there. Another sister had helped to set up!

And Alan came with my scooter, but he kept the basket on my scooter... With my bag of stuff, I had a very difficult time carrying everything to my Soochow study!

I skipped going to WGE and just came home. I put everything away and just rested as Mom was home all too soon.

Tonight, we had a short Complex meeting for the newly elected/appointed members. They had to decide who will have what position. I was home by 8:15pm  and it was a miracle that they 'selected' the key individuals as no one wanted to do anything! We didn't have Family Time as Isaiah decided to play basketball tonight.

Tomorrow is going to be another long day... with a LONG complex meeting in the evening!

Cooler Day!

I was up early but decided not to rush as I was taking the morning as Part 1 of my Sabbath. I was asked to teach a business class as the teacher got stuck in the Philippines because his passport got stolen! So, I am rearranging my weekly schedule to have two mornings as my Sabbath "Day". Sabbath on Thursday is only 7 hours... So, having two mornings will be nice!

I got Mom up and out and sat and rested and read. Delightful!

At 11am, I went out for my 10K. I decided not to rush, so no WGE and I just took a shower at home. Then at 1pm, I headed out to the old house. Most everything was gone... but she packed a lot of my stuff and I'm not sure where the stuff is now... maybe it's downstairs in the recycling pile. I wasn't going to look! I sprayed down the bathroom and cleaned her room a bit and consolidated what few items that are still left in the house! Her brother should be coming back on Sunday to get the stuff. The 50 minutes flew by. I had to leave to go and tutor!

The hour went by so quickly. It was 3:22 before I left. I was meeting a friend who needed to sign his kids into our Household Registry. So, I made it! That didn't take long and I was on my scooter heading home at 4:45, stopping to pay a bill before getting home.

I got Mom's dinner ready and started on the cake for the Soochow Bible study kids. I had asked one of the sisters to do the simple lunch for tomorrow! YIPPY!

Mom was home and I sat down to eat as well... delicious leftover from Saturday's banquet. I was so hungry!

Tonight I had tutoring from 7:30 to 9:30 as I have our monthly Complex meeting on Wednesday night. She is set to take the test on Sunday. Please pray that she passes!

Fruit-full Faith-filled Stewardship!

I was up early and just hung around home to get some things done for the week...

I did a load of laundry.

I prepared for this week's class/tutoring.

I went down to check the recycling.

I did not go to WGE.

I got Mom up and ready. She started her eating... and continued all the way to church! We had to get to church early as Alan had to meet up with one of his discipleship guys. For dinner, she even had a piece of chocolate cake with homemade frosting... Wow...

It was nice to be there early. I brought the box of snacks from the wedding and chips and set everything up. The coffee was good!

Even though several families were not there, we still had a good group of people. THANK YOU JESUS!

Cooler Weather Coming Soon...

I was up and ran 10k. I hit 61 for this week! YIPPY!

Then yes, I was off to WGE and also stopped at PXMart and Miramar Entertainment Center. Isaiah wanted me to help him get movie tickets with his coupons.

I was home and checked on the recycling and got Mom up.

Abby called and I had a chance to talk to her... YIPPY!

Isaiah went off with Fenny... They were going to the Mall for Burgers and then go to the movie at 6pm.

Alan and I had a wedding banquet, so the helper was here by 5pm. It was a great banquet as we saw friends we hadn't seen for maybe 20 years! And we took home most of the leftover! The food was so delicious!

Goal Setting Friday!

I was up early and went out as I looked at the weather... if I try to go out later, the temperature will be quite hot... I ran my 10k and came back to care for Mom.

She was off and I went to WGE for a shower and a quick workout.

Alan and I met up at 10:30 and we went to a new restaurant. The shakes were excellent! We ordered two!

Then we went over to the old house... what a disaster! The living room was filled with her stuff. She had stuff everywhere. The rent is paid until the end of the month, so they have two weeks to get everything out and the room cleaned. I told them to take the mattress down and dispose of it. I won't describe what that looked like!

We came back home and worked on our goals for 2025. Our verse of focus: Jeremiah 17:7-8. We will not cease to bear fruit even as we are 'senior citizens'.

I had tutoring, but they did not show up. So... what a waste of time yet again!

I got home and sorted through things and got Mom to bed.

It was nice and early... YEAH!

So, I watched a TV show!

A Needed Sabbath

I was up and decided to run later... wrong decision as it got really hot!

I got Mom up and out and put a load in. Then I had a nice relaxing breakfast before settling down on the sofa.

I hung up the wash and made sure there was enough food for everyone's dinner. I turned on the WiFi at 1:30 and sent off the talk notes and PPT! YEAH!

Oh... I finished my first book and spent time to pray through the goals for 2025. While at home, a neighbor came by to borrow my scooter. She then stayed and talked...

I left at 4pm to do a quick workout at WGE. I hadn't been there for four days...

The complex had issues. One of the appointed members refused to be part of the complex board. I called and talked to him and he is as stubborn as can be. So, we have to figure out what to do!

Mom was home and after she went to bed, I went over to the old house. The gal is to move by 10am tomorrow!

We had Family Time at 9:30!

My Long Wednesday

I was up early... and then I did go out for my 10k run! The weather was great, but my pace was not!

Then it was getting Mom up and out before helping with the recycling.

The second floor pounding started...

I was out the door by 12:45 for my 1pm class. The topic was FAMILY!

I brought some of the leftover brownie bars and the kids really enjoyed them.

I was home by 3:30 and put away everything and picked up my next bag for my tutoring.

It was not raining, so the ride there was much nicer! I like running in the rain, but not riding in the rain!

The helper was here for my Mom and I was back to get her to bed before my 7:30 tutoring started.

At 10pm, I had prayer time with the gal... And I was so ready to head to bed... And yes, SABBATH TOMORROW... but with this pounding, I will have to find a place to 'hide-out'...

Tired Tuesday!

I was up early but just felt lethargic... I rested most of the morning after Mom left. I did go for my 10k run... I like to sleep more, so I have not been going to the WGE.

I made ribs for dinner with veggies.

I had baked yesterday these brownie bars... reduced sugar!

I headed off for the Bible study and it was a great time!

I was home by 4pm and rested some more before Mom got home.

The ribs turned out beautifully.

The second floor was working on things that were tremendously loud! TERRIBLE!

This evening at 8:30 we had Family Time. It was 4:30 for Abby!

Tomorrow is going to be another long day... I can hardly wait until December...

Another Catch Up Monday!

The boys were up early for the Chargers game and yes, they won!

I was up and I did go out in the morning as I knew I wouldn't have time if I didn't. I gave myself time to run 10k! Splendid!

I was home and after a quick shower, I was getting Mom up and the pill worked too well. She would not move. She was snoring and the Day Care Center lined me throughout the day to tell me how lethargic she was. She didn't even get up for lunch! Oh no... Will she be too hyper this evening???

I spent the morning to work on my talk notes and the ppt. And of course, there were complex issues. Two newly 'elected' board members do not want to serve!  They are from the C Building, which has had a lot of issues between neighbors!

The morning flew by and after a quick lunch, I headed over to the Old House as I had set this afternoon to look at the progress of the gal who is moving out. She has started, but there was a lot more that needed to be done. I took pictures to send to her brother and he understands. What he will do is make sure that this Friday she only brings what she needs at the Live In Home. For the next two weeks the family members will come to clean up and take out and move everything else!

I was home and got back to cleaning.

At 3:30 a gal with whom I pray with monthly came over. And of course, Mom was home promptly at 5:10!

This evening at 9pm, I had my Bible study on Revelation online!

What a day!

A Run Sunday (Not Me)

I was up super early... and the Lord woke me up, so that we can have our hour before going to cheer the boys on...

We left at 4:45 and arrived promptly at 5:30. The place had so many people!

The run started at 6am and I just walked... I was at the return lane and the boys didn't show up until 10 minutes before the time limit. So, Alan finished in 92 minutes and Isaiah finished in 95 minutes. They had only 100 minutes. The elite runners were finished in 40 minutes!

It was fun! We took pictures and then went to the Fair. We got 100NT$ coupons and bought all sort of goodies! We stayed until 10am and came back. I stopped to get fruit and gas.

Then I got Mom up and eating breakfast! I also did a load of laundry and did not have time to rest. The Lord sustained me.

We were at church by 2:45 and helped with set up! We brought a pumpkin pie for the birthday celebration!

After the service, we dropped Fenny off at her place before coming back home.

Mom has been hyper for the past four days... talking for three to four hours at night and today, she would not stop talking at church. So, I had to take her in the lounge and I had to keep giving her snacks or she would talk, talk, talk. And she wasn't talking softly...

Anyhow, tonight, I gave her a sleeping pill in addition to her Seroquel. We will see... We all need sleep!
