Yes, I sent Alan off early this morning as he went to Japan with four Soochow University students. He will be there for five days!
I came back and got busy with message prep. I have to do the powerpoint file each week.
I did have time to go for a run... before it got too hot!
I also went to the second hand store again as they came to pick up the box. While I waited, I tried to help clear one area. I also gathered winter clothes for donation as we have friends going to Kunming to minister to the leprosy village!
When I came home, I got an email from the parent of the kids I was going to tutor this afternoon. They had to cancel! Yippy! That gave me almost four extra hours. So I finished my ppt file for Sunday!
Tonight, Isaiah was playing an exhibition match, so Abby and I went over to watch. Isaiah didn't play too well... so they lost-- 6-4! They were going to play another game but it started to sprinkle!
Overall, it was another blessed day!

Finally...
A dear Christian lady runs a second hand store right here in Neihu. I've been wanting to go and help out... I had it down on my date book before I left for the States in October... and even after coming back, I kept saying to myself -- I need to go and help organize that place. But I have had so little free time!
Why do I want to go and help out?
There are many reasons. Let me list a few --
The money she earns is used to help low income families.
We partner together to ship boxes off to the Philippines to help typhoon victims. She supplies the clothes and things and I pay for the shipping.
I love second hand stores and have always wanted a 'Salvation Army/Goodwill' in Neihu.
Since we are shipping off two more boxes to the Philippines, I blocked off the entire afternoon and went over at around 2pm.
I started with her outside area and finished that and was able to do one of the three rooms. It was a lot of work. But when I finished, the customers started coming in! Some of them were regulars and they were so impressed. They kept saying, "Now we can see what you have. It's so wonderful!"
Sure enough, with the outside area looking more attractive and organized, people wanted to come in. While I was there, those who were looking started to buy things.
I will go there again... at least four more times as I have two more rooms to go through. I also hope to help her with her storage area that she has in the store. That's going to be a major task as things are just piled up in clear plastic bags in there!
Then I want to work on her office, kitchen area and the customer restroom.
The name of her store is Home of Light! And it can really become a lighthouse in that neighborhood! I hope that by the end of December I would be finished with this "task"! With God all things are possible!

Abby's 18th Birthday Celebration!
Yes, Abby turned 18 today!
She had school... but we did all we can to make her feel extra special.
She wanted a Chinese breakfast, so before taking her to the MRT Station, we stopped and picked up Chinese breakfast.
For lunch, I packed her meatloaf and a loaf of banana bread to share with her classmates!
And for dinner, she wanted dumplings and potstickers.
After Alan came home, we sat around the dining room table and opened gifts! Her classmates gave her lots of gifts. Isaiah got her lots of gifts and made a card for her. People from church gave her red envelopes. A sister brought over ice cream from Hagan Daaz for the kids. I baked a loaf of lemon bread (that's what she requested!).
I am blessed with two incredibly special kids... and yes, I can't believe Abby is 18!

Unexpected Visitors
I had planned to take some time to rest after such a packed weekend... but a sister and her son came over for a visit...
So... I didn't have the time as I had hoped.
I did go for a run before she arrived... and she brought lunch...
I tutored this afternoon and then the rest of the evening was spent on message preparation and cooking and baking!
Tomorrow is Abby's birthday and she wanted to bring banana bread to school.
I also have my Bible study group tomorrow morning and they stay for lunch. So, I was busy making meatloaf and homemade bread.
I hope to be in bed by 11:30!!!!
When I finish this blog, I'm going to do some housework...

Double Sunday... by the Strength of the Lord!
Only Jesus can...
After going to bed at 2:30... I had to share at the Chinese morning service and HOP.
God did it...
I didn't lose my voice...
I had time to take a nap between the two services...
I brought desserts for both services... and all finished...
And there was leftover at HOP Love Feast, so Abby has her lunches for Monday and Tuesday! (Tuesday is her birthday! She's turning 18! How did that happened?!?!?! Next year Isaiah will no longer be a teenager...)
God did it all... He strengthen me...

Isaiah's 19th Birthday!
What a great day we've had... it rained... so basketball practice cancelled... tennis tournament cancelled.
I made Isaiah banana pancakes for breakfast and went off to drop off things to my brother.
It was raining, but I wanted to get some exercise... So I decided to walk and bike... It was not a long bike ride... but at least I was able to do a bit of exercise.
Abby and I baked three loaves of different desserts...
She also went out shopping for Isaiah. She splurged on him... big time!
We went out to Friday's for dinner...
We're back home now... so I have the time to blog.
We're heading out at 11:15 to watch a movie at 11:30... still Isaiah's birthday!
I have to preach tomorrow morning... I can't even imagine how I'm going to keep my eyes opened.

First Black Friday at Costco Taiwan
It's Isaiah's birthday on Saturday so he requested my famous Mexican food for dinner tonight. Well... we needed tortillas and ground beef...
We had heard that it was the FIRST Black Friday at Costco... but we had no idea what it meant!
The line to get in wound around the block as if we were getting tickets to a rock concert. Once inside, it was a mad house. In fact, it was supposed to be a three day event. This evening, it was announced - Costco cancelled the next two days as they sold all items already!
We went in, bought the goods and left. (We forgot sour cream, but we did not want to go back!) What was on special... I saw a few items -- 12 apples for US$5... Thermal underwear -- US$5... Liquid softner... US$5!
By the success of this one, we think next year -- every store is going to have a BLACK FRIDAY FRENZY!
Oh and yes, dinner was delicious... it would have been better with sour cream... maybe next week, we will venture over there again for that!
