Funeral Service...

I was hoping to get more stuff done today...

In the morning, I rushed off to a funeral service... My student's grandfather passed away... He had stage 4 cancer 10 years ago... Was able to 'beat it' and just last year around November, it came back again... And he deteriorated very quickly... He passed away the day after Christmas!

On the way back, I stopped and bought 300NT$ worth of fruit... This one lady had a box of fruit... all for 200NT$. There were 10 apples and three dragon fruit and two pears... I bought five more apples.  Abby is trying to eat more fruit and vegetables...

When i got home,  Abby was home. And instead of studying, she was watching this new murder mystery... and I got sidetracked.

I finally forced her to turn off the TV and I started working... while she went and took a nap. She is not very focused or disciplined... That's her biggest weakness!

Alan was at school all day... Isaiah had only one final... and he stayed at school.

I had to call different government agencies and will have to go with Kurtis to get his visa done TOMORROW! It's going to be a miracle to finish it before Chinese New Year... Please pray!

The Elderly Center called to check in on everything... And I again put my mom's name in for the last van leaving at 5:10... then I won't have to pay so much for the 'taxi service'... Yes, please pray...

I made meatloaf... another kind... I put Doritos in it... Wow... it tastes so good! But for some reason, the crock pot cracked, so I'm down to only one working crock pot. I started with four... gave a few away and now, I'm down to one only! This one already has a slight crack... I hope it lasts...

Tutoring Cancelled...

What a strange day...

Both of my tutoring jobs called to cancel today... So, I was praising God as this gave me a day to catch up on things... plus I had a friend over and she was able to stay and talk... I didn't have to rush off to tutor...

I thought with no tutoring, I'd have time to get other things done... but no...

I did do two loads of clothes, change Mom's bedding... and preview the video from the elderly center. I sent it to James, Annie and Eddie and they all said it was very well done...

I also got a new job opportunity... translating a DM for a government agency... with maybe more projects in the near future... Unfortunately, I think the DM is kind of boring... I'm not sure if I can beef up their English text... or do I have to translate exactly as what they had written in Chinese??? I would love to have a bit of liberty and write something better... We shall see... As for pay, they asked what's my price... I have no idea...

One Down... More to Come...

The kids finished their first final exam... and it was a difficult one. I didn't do well in accounting, so I couldn't be of much help... They used the original English textbook from the States, so even the test was in English. But it's knowing how to apply the right number in the right place!

They did make it to the service... so that was great.

Mom enjoyed the service... She loves all the snacks and greeting people and having dinner and seeing Kurtis...

We had Family Time this evening...

Oh yes, I spoke on How Do I Resist Evil!

Study Hall at Our House!

Everyone was up early... as the kids have their accounting final exam tomorrow. They were at the dining room table trying to cram as much accounting into their brain as possible.

Mom watched two Little House and I went for a run. It was quite warm out there. I also made meat loaf...

Lunch was simple. I had bought meat buns and Mom had a large bowl of fruit... A very large bowl of fruit!

We didn't turn the wifi on until 5pm!

It was a nice dinner at home...

The meat loaf turned out really nice! And I had made corn bread. We invited Kurtis to come over, but he never replied... A friend also dropped off a box of Krispy Kream donuts... We are truly blessed!

No Date...

Well... this was to be the first Friday of 2020... and we were to go on our date... but Alan was busy with things... and so we didn't have a date... Too bad as I had a restaurant picked out that had his favorite food... Maybe next week... I will let Alan decide and initiate as he makes more sacrifice to watch a Chargers game than he does for our date! That's what I told him... I also realized that although we set having a weekly date as our couple goal, it's really my goal as I see carving time out to connect as a way to build and grow our marriage relationship. But it's not really his goal. I wonder if he's motivated to make it happen, so I asked him about this! He goes on our weekly Friday Dates just so that he can have lunch because he's hungry! That's his intrinsic motivation for going out on our date, meaning if he's not hungry, he'll forget that Friday is set aside for 'date with Lovely'! We had a very eye opening and honest talk. I want to respect him and not 'nag' him into making our marriage relationship a priority!

I got lots of household chores accomplished... plus errands done... So, it was a very productive day!

The kids were home early as Abby doesn't work on Fridays anymore and Isaiah didn't have his basketball practice as it's the week before finals...

They have to really focus as their big accounting test is on Sunday! Too bad as they're going to miss another Sunday! Last week was the basketball tournament and this week will be their accounting final... I hope they make it to the last part of my talk... It's a very relevant topic: How do I resist evil?

All Things New...

It was a gorgeous day... warm, sunny, breezy...

And I had time to go for a massage and meet with a new student. He's a personal trainer who wants to have class twice a week. I can tell he is super discipline... So... it's going to be Mondays and Thursdays from 1-2... rain or shine... He even wants to pay me in advance... that's something new... Super nice!

Another great piece of news is that ORTV is trying a new Chinese writer so I won't have to write the sentences for the month of January. If the person doesn't work out (terrible sentences), then I'll be back on in February. But this gives me a much needed break.

What other new things? I found out that Soochow wants to continue the Bible study and is willing to change to Wednesday afternoon. I picked the new material for this next semester... I'm going to focus on PRAYER!

I also got cream of corn to try a new recipe... Corn pudding 'bread'...

The kids were at school and Alan had a full day of class... with basketball in the evening... He can't miss that...

I spent the evening watching a new TV series -- Anne with an E... it's on Netflix. I watched two episodes and I love it... everyone else thinks it's boring...

Happy New Year!

I can't believe it... but we actually RESTED today...

Alan got up early to play tennis... and I got up early to pray...

Then since Mom was still asleep, I went back to bed. Mom is fighting a cough, so I gave her some cough medicine. It has helped calm her down...

So, we didn't get up until 10:30... YIPPY!

I made sweet dumpling balls for breakfast and Mom loved it... She wanted MORE!

In the afternoon, she watched Little House and I went for a run!

We decided to go out to dinner... All the restaurants were packed... We finally found a more expensive American place and had dinner... It was very nice and cozy... and Mom said she didn't eat enough!!!!!!! We invited Kurtis but he couldn't make it. He was up all night... drinking... and didn't get to bed until 5am! Oh well... we can't control other's people's decisions...

After Mom went to bed, we watched TV...

What a great way to start the New Year!
