Time for A Massage!

Kurtis was happy to accompany my mom to her massage this afternoon... while they were at their massage, I went and got one, too...

And this morning, I went to pick up Mom's Aricept medication. The doctor increased it to 10mg. But I won't start on that until we finish all her 5mg. The doctor asked if I noticed any improvement... but I couldn't see any difference...

Other than that, I worked on cleaning the house...

The day went by so quickly!

It's Friday... ALREADY!

I need to start preparing for my upcoming talks...

I've just been busy with settling back to life in Taipei... Plus organizing for the flea market sale on 8/31, not to mention getting back to teaching and tutoring...

I was going to drop off the car to get the headlight fixed... but I pulled the car out... turned on the headlight... it was working fine. So I told Alan that I'll wait until he gets back.

Isaiah is still trying to finish his application for the FBI Summer Honors Internship Program. One requirement is that he's supposed to be in the States to finish the 'security check'. We hope that they will have a way for him to complete that while living in Taiwan. We shall see...

Abby worked and got together with her friends...

Kurtis went for a long bike ride at the River Park... I thought it would rain since a typhoon is approaching... but instead, it was hot, hot, hot... At the end of his ride, he stopped by Burger King and had a late lunch...

We wanted to have family time... but instead we ended up watching TV this evening.

Surprise Visit of A Dear Friend!

Image result for Jesus be the center, not feelings
Today was moving so fast... I can't believe I've already come to the end...

Dropped Mom off and came home to get things done... I was going to drop off the car to get the headlight fixed but a friend dropped by. We talked until when I had to leave to teach at NSB.

James, Isaiah and Kurtis picked up Mom and took her out to dinner... I'm sure she ate a lot!

Abby finally started teaching again... but she's thinking of quitting!

I'm not sure what she will decide as her choices are all based upon her feelings... I pray that she would center her life on Jesus and His Word...

This evening we had our Complex Meeting.

Isaiah did not get his transcript as the school was 'closed'... Plus he ran into a snag as one of the forms stated that he needs to be physically present in the US to complete the security process part of the application. Huh?? How in the world do they get people to actually go to a place to take a polygraph test??? We will see...

As for the weather, it was really scorching hot. I went out for my short run and got back before 8... and already I was pouring in sweat in 30 minutes!

Thunder Shower

We finally had a real thunder shower...

Each time it sprinkles, Kurtis would be like, "Look, it's raining!" And we'd all respond with, "This is not rain!" Kurtis would then proceed to tell us the definition of rain -- water from the sky caused by an accumulation of clouds... blah, blah, blah...

Well... today he finally understood what we meant. It RAINED!

He went out there to just stand in the rain. He really got soaking wet and he loved it! People were looking at him like he was crazy!

In an hour, it stopped.

So, this evening Isaiah and Kurtis went to the Shihlin Night Market... I gave them about 13US$ to buy snacks and what not. I'm sure they are having a great time.

Abby went out to dinner with her 'spiritual sisters'.

And I had to tutor this afternoon... It was great to start back again...

I also got a few errands accomplished... and Isaiah has started the application process for the 2020 FBI Summer Honors Internship Program. The deadline for sending everything in is September 15th. Tomorrow he plans to go to Soochow University to get an English copy of his transcript!

Cleaning the Shoe Cabinet and Other Tasks

One of the tasks on my list for today was to go through the shoe rack and cabinet and donate whatever we're not wearing... It took about an hour and about 20 pairs later... I was quite happy with the result!

Isaiah was trying to apply for the FBI Summer 2020 Honors' Internship Program. He only has a month to complete everything... This evening he went to tutor an elementary student from our church!

Abby lined and sent some pictures of the fun she was having on this trip to Taichung. It's with a bunch of people she met through a Christian camp... but the trip was planned mainly for FUN... nothing Christian related! They stayed up until 3am, playing card games and drinking! She said she didn't do any drinking as she doesn't enjoy drinking beer... She will be back this evening!

Kurtis' student cancelled so he was actually home this evening... He was thinking about going to the Shihlin Night Market, but I convinced him that it would be more enjoyable if he went with one of his cousins. So, that might be on his agenda for tomorrow night.

A Bit of Rain!

Today was so much cooler...

In the morning, I went for a run in the rain, after I dropped Abby off at the MRT Station as she has a trip down to Taichung with some of her friends. I hope she's having a good time...

Isaiah and Kurtis were home... playing video games... resting... They helped me with a few household chores... I changed Mom and Abby's bedding... did two loads of clothes... wash the fan blades... and went and got a hair wash and hair cut... I bought three coupons and I had one more left and it was going to expire today. They would refund me the money, but I thought it would be so relaxing... and it was. I only had my hair trimmed as I had promised NOT to cut it until I'm 60. Hopefully, by then my hair would be as long as when Alan met me... That's why I'm growing it long again...

Isaiah and Kurtis went down to the Mall as there is a Burger King there -- Kurtis' treat as Isaiah has been taking him around. He also treated Abby the other day. I think it's just a good excuse to go to Burger King. He now appreciates American food a lot more than he did some 10 days ago.

This evening I spent time doing class and tutoring prep... and then sat and watch a couple of episodes of Elementary.

Kurtis was off tutoring... he's getting quite good at using the public transport to get around.

Hoping To Get A Little More Sleep!

I realized that Sunday is my only day to get a little sleep...

After my date with God, I don't go out for a quick run and I don't have to get my mom ready for her elderly program.

So, today, I went back to bed...

Isaiah went off to play in a mini friendship tennis tournament.  Abby was going to go out to play basketball, but she decided to sleep in. Kurtis was rushing out the door as he had to tutor. So, by 8:30, I was up and getting Mom ready.

She had breakfast and I was thinking maybe Eddie or Annie would want to have a short conversation with her, but neither of them seemed to be around. So, I let Mom watch In Touch. And then I found Murder She Wrote and we sat down to watch one episode. She couldn't figure out who killed who or why, but she still enjoyed seeing "Jessica Fletcher" and hearing that usual music.

After lunch, we were off to church.

I translated for Paul, who gave an excellent message on Kindness. Next week he will be speaking on Goodness!

Mom went to bed and the four of us played a game of Rummic Q before watching a little bit of TV. Isaiah said he wanted to get up at 4am to watch the Chargers' game... Oh my...
