Isaiah Got His Scooter License!

We wet this morning and after he went to the 90 minute class, they gave him his license!

The class was actually very helpful and informative.

First, they watched a 30 minute video. Then a guy came in and gave a one hour lecture!

Isaiah really paid attention and learned a lot! The film and the instructor gave very helpful tips.

After the class, Isaiah said, "I think I'll go for a better helmet! And I definitely will be more careful when I ride!"

Tomorrow, he will take the scooter to go to his youth group. In the morning, Alan will take him to the English Department Test at Soochow University!

This is going to be quite a weekend for him!

A Day of Many Unusual Events!

Several unexpected things happened today...

I tutored in the morning as the gal has this week off for her spring break!

I biked to SanChong to check out a place... and it turned out it wasn't even built!

I came back and a friend asked me to babysit their son as it's their 10th Anniversary. They wanted to go out for a dinner date and didn't have a babysitter!

So... what I had planned on doing this evening went out the windows. (Test writing and message prep!)

Abby was planning to go to her cram school as she has a class to make up. BUT instead, she came home. What a tremendous help she was with babysitting!

Isaiah also had to walk home.

The kids and I watched the animated movie, Sing. That was extremely fun to watch!

I found out several friends from the States will be coming at around the same time and needed help with different things, such as finding places to lodge, setting up time to meet up with us...

And Alan was again asked to be at the 'meet the parents orientation' on Saturday. That's really funny as he is going to be one of the parents this year, meaning Isaiah is going to be taking the test for admission into Soochow English Department. While the 'kids' are taking the test, they ask all the parents to gather in one of the auditoriums. Many of the teachers/professors are introduced and one teacher is asked to talk about the department. (The test is only 70 minutes!) Alan had been asked in years past as he does a great job speaking about the department! He was asked again this year...

So... this has been a day of many unusual events.

Vacation Is Over!

I had a lot of catching up to do... housework, test writing...

So, I can't write much in this post as the day just went by much too fast...

My head is still spinning...

In fact, I even got a bit lost when trying to get to my afternoon tutoring session... I forgot to make a turn and got myself all turned around! Thankfully, I got there... only five minutes late. That was a total miracle!

Abby went to cram school.

Isaiah went to tutor... for MONEY. His first time... I'm curious how he liked it...

Bowling!

As we had another day off, I found a place to go bowling... something we have not done for a very long time!

We took the MRT there and bowled for TWO hours! I bought the coupons on line... as that was cheaper than paying for the games!

Alan had the highest score... of course!

I didn't break 100! So close...

Then we had coupons for McDonald's and decided to go there for dinner...

Tomorrow... things get back to 'normal'.

A Day to Hang Out Together

What a fun day we have had!

We first drove to YangMei, a city that's about an hour south!

Alan's co-worker bought a 'villa' down there and we went to see it. We've known Coach Lee and his wife for many years. Both of their kids went to Nanhu High School. They are 'not-yet' believers, so please do pray for them!

We had a fabulous time, sitting around and chatting. Coach Lee teaches table tennis and tennis. So on the top floor of their 'villa', they had a ping pong table. Isaiah and Abby went and played. They also have two dogs, so the kids were happy, taking the dogs for a walk as the weather was nice and warm... They also prepared a delicious lunch for us.

James, my brother, came in at 3pm, so at 3:30 we headed off to pick him up from the Taoyuan Airport, which was only a 20 minute drive from Coach Lee's house.

For dinner, James took us out to a splendid Thai Restaurant! Another big feast!

We came home and had our family devotion time... after that, each of us got on a computer to 'do our own thing.' Alan looked at sports news. Abby watched Korean soap opera. Isaiah got on Facebook to message his friends... and I wrote on our family blog!

The Art of Ordering the Love Feasts

It's been quite a job ordering for the HOP Love Feasts.

After the Sunday service, we all sit down to have dinner together. I order the food. (I have a budget of 200US$ for 75 people! Yes, that's less than 3US$ per person!) I also make things to supplement the meals. I usually make a dessert and a soup!

Today, we had a smaller crowd and I was trying out a new place. Not knowing if the food would be enough, I made two different kinds of soup (one sweet and one savory) and another veggie dish!

Wow... did we have a lot of leftover? It was so nice to send food home with each family. With a long weekend, they won't have to cook!

It has been quite a task as I continue to cruise around to find new places. I don't want to keep ordering the same things.

So far, people have really enjoyed being together for our Love Feasts!

Long Weekend!

Image result for Psalm 38: 21
Another long weekend...

Abby slept in as she was exhausted from her graduation trip. I called her cram school teacher to tell him she wouldn't be coming to class today.

Isaiah, on the other hand, had practice all day.

Alan played tennis.

I had to tutor!

In the afternoon, the weather was nice and chilly with no rain. So, Abby and I went for a long bike ride!

For dinner, we had salads and cheese sandwiches! Followed with our family devotion time and card playing and TV watching!

We are all looking forward to having the time to hang out together! And Uncle James will be arriving on Monday night! More fun and feasting!
