The A-Team Mode of Transportation

Yes, we did it... We said good bye to our soon-to-be-13-year-old scooter and bought a SPANKING NEW 150cc scooter for Alan. It was way more than my new lap top and the ignition alone has like five functions... And it's even computerized. As you can tell, it was difficult to say good bye to old "faithful", but the kids were already enjoying riding on the new one. We haven't named the new one yet... but I will let you know with my next post. I am going to upload a picture of what it's like for the two kids to be on my 50cc... The name of my scooter -- Yabadaba-do-something! Because when we are all on it, I have to use my legs to help get the scooter up the ramp of our parking structure, just like the Flintstones!

All Things New

Well, I hope you enjoyed all the pictures I had uploaded on those previous blog entries... These pictures were just taken moments ago from my new lap top computer... yes, you read that correctly. What an amazing thing! This year it seems as if we will be buying several new things. (Maybe my next post will be another one of our new items!)

I had received my royalty payment in August and prayed for a lap top that would be within the amount that I had received. I wanted a lap top so that I can be working in the living room where my kids are doing their homework. Or I can bring it to the States and be writing things. (And our desk top is really getting very slow and very unreliable!)

We looked and lap top computers aren't cheap. With the small amount of money I had, I was thinking that I might have to buy a 10.1 inch "mini" computer. Alan didn't like that idea as the screen will be tiny and my eyes will be strained and there is no DVD drive.

Last Saturday night after speaking at Evergreen, we went to this area in Taipei where computers are sold. The place we wanted to go to was closed. So, we walked down another alley. At the second shop, there was an assortment of lap top computers on display. I started looking at all the 10.1 inch ones. The salesperson came up and I told him about my dilemma. He introduced a couple of the "mini" computers -- one that had a 10.1 inch screen and another that was 11 inches. We looked at the ones with a bigger screen and the listed price was way over my budget. As we looked at a 14 inch Asus, he asked if I was interested in that one. I hesitated and told him my limited funds. He said, "Let me ask the manager." You should already know the end of the story as the figure he punched into his hand held calculator was 46NT$ less than my set budget.

Carnival Dream

The ship we cruised on was the Carnival Dream. We really appreciated Andrea Sinclair with whom we booked with from Carnival. We had to make several international calls and she took care of making sure we had rooms right next to each other. Of course, we would have liked to have had some on board credit thrown in, but maybe next time. We did find that the ship was a bit too big for the elderly as there was a lot of walking. Here are some fun pictures! And yes, towards the end of the cruise, we had to get a wheel chair for Daddy George. He loved being pushed around... and he got to eat all the desserts that were served!

Mayan Pyramids

The picture above is the pyramid in Belize in which we were able to climb all the way up to the top! The view was amazing!

We had a great time as we visited Mayan Pyramids in Mexico and Belize. We enjoyed our visit to the Pyramids in Belize the most!

Feasting while Cruising

Just one of many delicious dinners that we had on board the Carnival Dream!

Happy Chinese New Year

Yes, the whole month of January has flown by and we're already half way through February. I finally have time to post on our family blog. Really -- these six weeks went by faster than the speed of light. Why? Well, the semester ended in the middle of January and there were grades to calculate and papers to grade. At the same time, I had to get ready for our trip to the States. That meant shopping and packing and packing and shopping. After arriving in the States, I helped to pack my parents' suitcases as we were headed for a ROAD TRIP -- a 7 day cruise to see the Mayan Pyramids and a visit to Kennedy Space Center. Before I knew it, February arrived and I was again shopping and packing and packing and shopping in order to get things ready for our return to Taiwan. The day before our flight back in early February, I became deathly ill. I don't usually get sick, but this was the worse case of the flu that I have had in a long time -- my head ached and spun, I felt dizzy, I had no smell or taste, all I wanted to do was SLEEP. The flight was quite miserable and after our return, I slept for another FIVE days. And now second semester has started... and the only way I survived the first week back was by the grace and strength of God. I have recovered, which is a miracle. I know that so many were praying for me. The kids are back in school, Alan and I are back in school and everything is in full swing. So exactly one month after our departure in January for the start of our vacation, I finally have a minute to post some pictures and yes, it's already February 20th. Enjoy the pictures.
